Do you think it would be possible to make a "effective" horde Dark Eldar army? I'm not making it, I just want to here about the possibilitys.
(I know my "lists" are vague, I don't have the codex)

A) 6x 20-man warriors, with a haemoculus for each. And outflancking mandrakes

B) Wracks with a haemoculus each, packmasters for heavy hitting

C) Baron, 6x 20-man hellions. reavers for AT

I wouldn't go so over the top with the unit choices. Good armies are made of balance.

I think there is potential in the DEldar for a good slogger army. You've got Talos and Cronos (?) for solid Monstrous creatures, Hellions, Ravagers, and Beasts for rapid striking, and Warriors for long range shooting with Wracks for solid objective holding.

It's just the fast transport options are so damngood in the DEldar codex that it'd be a shame not to take advantage of some of them.

A. isn't going to work as even with FNP they are far too easy to kill, remember being T3 means S6 ignores your FNP. You won't kill enough vehicles, are slow, and can't take on above average assault unit in combat. Mandrakes are terrible in any list, if they Infiltrate/Outflank then they aren't strong enough to kill anything when they show up (with a Pain Point they become usable, but they aren't strong or tough enough to kill anything before they get one).

Wracks as troops is definitely more viable if you are footslogging, you don't even need to have the Haemoculus in there (aside from needing one to get them as Troops) as they come with a Pain Point anyway.

That many Hellions on the table would be pretty crazy, with some decent support that could definitely be a viable build. Baron + 3 Haemoculus who join 3 units to give them the Pain Point at deployment and then leave would be very interesting. I'm not sure that counts as a footslogging army though lol.

The main thing which makes foot slogging DE viable imo is the Webway Portal. They are what let you use the more squishy DE units (i.e most of them) without having to take vehicles. Talos and Cronos are also definitely going to find their way into foot or hybrid lists.

I think that if you're going to go with a footslogging list, you can't forget the Beastmaster packs. They have the ability to mix and match types of beast in the unit, and that gives you the potential for some wound allocation shenanigans. Since they are unit type: Beast, they have a potential 24" charge range, so should be in assault on turn two. Use somethink like Urien to throw a pain token on them pre-game, and they'll more than likely make it across the board.

I really wanna make a themed Haemonculus list that includes Urien, Grotesques (yeah, they're expensive, but cool), Wracks, Beastmasters (modeled all Frankenstein-esque) & Taloi.

Re:Footslogging Dark Eldar

I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with for foot DE. I think there is potential there. Once I get my grubby little hands on a pdf of the codex I'll probably try to build a few myself.

The biggest problems as I see it are the morale issue and the heavy weapon issue. Morale is the bigger problem, since your troops aren't that good in close combat to a large degree and so they can't really afford to lose combat, which they probably will. With initiative 5 there's a decent chance they'll escape though.

The heavy weapon issue is that DE have no devastator equivalent. If you want dark lances without vehicles you're stuck with warriors and trueborn. The usual way to do a foot army is to have a chunk of your force that moves and fights and takes objectives and a chunk that breaks transports and vehicles. DE don't have access to a good troop that can advance, break vehicles, fight, and take objectives like a tac squad with melta or a boyz mob. Trueborn are pretty good at killing tanks on the advance with 4 blasters, but 10 guys with 5+ armor are a little fragile and they can't take objectives. They can only take a single blaster in their troops, which means that they need to rely on rear units to kill vehicles at range. The only thing that again applies is warriors and trueborn. 130 buys you 10 warriors with a dark lance and a blaster which is decent but immobile if you want to use the lance.

So there's some difficulty with how to form your core army plan. The units which I think will be most important to foot DE are haemonculi, wracks as troops, grotesques as a viable barrier unit (T5, FNP, 3 wounds each, kind of like thunderbubble but hosed when facing strength 10), wracks as kinda meh scoring assault troops, warriors doing ranged support, trueborn blaster squads (180 points for 10 guys with 4 blasters), wyches (give these girls a pain token and make sure they're behind other models and they are actually incredibly good, 4+ invuln and FNP go a long way in assault), and talos and chronos for the heavy support for more resiliency and several chronos working together can hand out pain tokens like they were candy on halloween.

Re:Footslogging Dark Eldar

Couldn't you use a mix of Scourges and Reavers to provide anti-tank at the FA slot. Then use HS/Troops to provide the toughness. Elites with the prerequisite Trueborn or tough Grotesques could then round out the list. It seems pretty viable to me, but like someone posted before, why ignore such cheap and amazing vehicles like Raiders and Ravagers.
Still, at least its different!

I would imagine a line of Grotesques with a hammy or 2 attached would make a great wall for your army. That's alot of T5 wounds to plow thru - and with FNP. Its an expensive unit, but one that cannot be ignored by your opponent - so it should earn its points back as bullet sponges even if they don't kill anything. Their strength would also help against light vehicles - allowing you to focus you DL on the higher armor vehicles.
