I'm new to painting Imperial Guard, and I was just wondering if i could get some suggestions on how to paint them so they just look good. I'm not looking for knock-out detail or anything, just a simple way to make them look decent.


What colors or washes are involved?



Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was going to pick some Dheneb stone up today, however I guess it was sitting there fore a while. Personally I use a tallarn flesh basecoat on top of white primer, followed by an ogryn flesh wash (let wash pool more in the darkest face areas). I then highlight up with a mix of 50:50 bronze flesh/bleached bone, then a lighter mix, and finally a little spot in the most raised areas of a mix that is nearly all bleached bone. If I'm painting an arm rather than the face, I use an additional layer of tallarn flesh after the ogryn flesh wash, where I paint all apart from the crevesses.

GW also did a good White Dwarf guide on painting faces (I may have got this scheme from there).. it's on the GW website if you register, i think.

Its a little complex, but could easily be adapted to be more simple.
