this was my 1000 point list i played with today and it seems i need help with tactics and i think my list isnt correct for a 1000 point list.
i temp to say konrad is not 1000 point game material i just reallly really like him. but of course maybe im playing bad. please help tics, tactics and all.

If you find yourself getting shot at by war machines a lot i'd suggest a unit of wolfs. At 1,000 points,
Vampire Thrall, Flayed Hauberk, sword of might.
30 skeletons, light armor, shields, full command, warbanner
30 skeletons, light armor, shields, full command, banner of +1 combat res for the 4th rank.
5 Dire wolves
3 dire bats
Spend all remaining points on grave guard with great weapons.

Have the thrall throw two dice at a time at the summon spell; hope you don't roll 6's.
Skeletons should be 5 wide and 6 deep. This should let them both strip away steadfast, and roll into combat with a base +5 combat res(+6 if both units fight together).
The dire things hunt/screen, and the wights finish off units that the skeletons tie up.

Try less heroes, you'll do a lot better at this point value.

You're planning on power dice you might not have. With only 15 skeletons, I'd say you have a good shot at being dead before you get to start the summoning. That scepter only gives the bonus on the initial casting, not when you are beefing up zombies.

You don't really need the vampire lord at 1,000 points. He's just too expensive. You can only spend 250 points on all your lord choices at 1000 points, so you can't even make him really good.

Lord of the Dead might be a good idea on the Thrall in the list I proposed.
Honestly, you don't need more than a level 1 wizard either. If you want more magic, have your thrall take the I know all the spells thing; and choose vampire lore! It's really good for how easy it is to cast.

Again, and I can't stress this enough, you need to start with more skeletons on those units. If your opponent gets even slightly lucky, he has a very good shot at wiping one off the table before your first turn.
