Speed Painting

I am looking for a technique for speed painting my Eldar, because they are taking FOREVER. I'm trying to use thinned paints, but the violet red just takes forever to get a good coat. Any ideas?

The main color I have is an annoying but freakishly awesome Vallejo Violet Red. It is really tough to thin, but looks very nice on guardians. It is on a black undercoat. Every other color is fine.

White undercoat for a bright red! Use a spray gun too, the GW one is good for this, you are just basecoating the models red after the white primer, and then going back to do other basecoats after.

Don't use a white undercoat for red unless you want pink guardians. What I would suggest, though, is to spray them red, and then give it a quick wash of black followed by a coat of your specific red color. Pick details as needed.

Also, you might want to consider getting better at batch painting. I've found that painting guardsmen 3 at a time increases the amount of time it takes to get anything done by 50%, but you get an extra 200% painted minis out of the whole thing. Definitely a faster way to do things in the long run.

Shades nearly as well without looking dirty.

Another option is to stay with the black primer, then dry brush light gray before applying the base coat. The gray will help "pick up" the red without making the whole figure pink.
