5th Edition Necron Codex

Hi All,
This may be old news, and I apologise if it is, but I found this whilst messing about on Google.

Credit to the person that made it, as it seems fairly balanced on my inital read through. I though the monolith somewhat nurfed until I read all of its rules. I'm keen for your views on this. Would you play it? What mods would you deem appropriate? I really like the changes made to phase out and WBB, as it allows the Crons to operate as a normal army instead of a expensive collection of spammed units.

Check it out:

http://www.koshinn.com/xfer/Necron%20Codex%207Feb09.pdf

Looks good...but slightly overpriced. I would've liked to see a small decrease in points for the warriors, for example. They should be like 15-16 points, instead of 18. Other units seem just a tad overpriced imho also.

Everythings a tad expensive. Was it really 60 points for a destroyer before? Conversely Flayed ones seem a bit cheap for their rules. Good list though...

Destroyers are 50 points and flayed ones in that list are actually the same price they are now and have the same rules.

As a matter of fact, flayed ones in that list are weaker than they currently are as they have I4 and LD10 as opposed to I3 and LD9. They did give them 1 more attack though, but 1 attack doesn't matter if you're still striking after MEQ's.

really the largest downside i see with this is the higher point costs for things, and hte loss of WS4 i cant see a reason why necrons are worse fighters in close combat that MEQ's
also ditto to samrtk's comment about fearless

I prefer stubborn very much over fearless, personally. Mainly because I do not like the fact that you take extra wounds. I'ts a pretty slowed mechanic to me IMHO "oh you didn't run from combat because you're so bad-ass and battle hardened that nothing scares you. Ok, well you take more damage then." What? Ugh.

Anyway, I played a scenario game where all non-vehicle units had stubborn (on both sides) and man let me tell you it was so much better than fearless. It was just nice knowing that in CC I won't have to worry about testing leadership on a 3 or 4 or something nor will I take 3-8 extra wounds just because my squad doesn't run from combat. I don't know if you have done it or not but trying playing a game with everyone fearless then play one with everyone stubborn, see which you like more. I prefer stubborn.

Fearless wouldn't even match fluff as well. The codex goes on about cold logic and blah blah blah. So stubborn would represent not getting scared, but they can still retreat when staying in combat isn't tactically sound.

Fearless doesn't represent logic, just too much bravery. A necron isn't going to cry when he's beaten up and won't fight on for glory either.
