Mounted on Horses and wielding primitive shooty and CC weapons ( swords and pistols ).
Their suits of armor seem to have some additional protection and comm systems.
Mk I PA or any similar suit could be what they wear. Can't remember a complete description of the suits in DoA, just a few fetures meantioned.

In the second book, Fallen Angels, Luther wears a suit of power armor is in the "Calibanite style". It's described as being "close-fitting" compared to standard Astartes armor, and incorporates a combat shield as well as auto-reactive pauldrons.
