Big stink with count-as

Been working on a concept of the Sisters of Silence army (Horus Heresy) and along comes the dark eldar models. Now i have some female amazon bodies from maxi mini that I am swapping for the dark eldar upper bodies. As of right now Im caught between using the models with the Dark Eldar rules or the Sisters of Battle rules. The army will clearly be count-as, using codex (non house rules). The models will contain at a minimum of 60% gw parts (meeting gw tourney standards), the problem I feel will arise is some knuckle head getting uppity that it is a converted, count-as army. I understand wysiwyg rules, however when using conversion/count-as, how do you adjust for that? Do I use dark eldar weapons on the army im trying to use as an imperial force?

The other area is since Im doing Dark Eldar (thats the way im leaning) rules, I am using my FW vulture gunship (with conversion work) for a razorwing jetfighter and my thunderbolt for a voidraven bomber. Once again, do i use Dark eldar weapons on the models or keep them imperial? 'ard boyz rules/rtt say something to the effect that it has to be majority gw parts, wysiwyg and fw models are allowed to represent gw units (no fw rules though).

Thanks for your time.

for reference: •The 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) rule is in effect. This means all units must be
easily identifiable as the particular codex choice they represent and that any and all
weapons/options taken for a unit or character must be clearly represented on the model).

In a friendly game i would have no problem with you using a counts as army like this.

In a tourney it would peeve me off. I don't want to try to remember what all the different units you've made "really" are. There's enough things to think about besides whether or not the unit i'm looking at which has legs from one kit and the torso from another is actually a seraphim squad or something else.

•The 'What You See Is What You Get' (WYSIWYG) rule is in effect.
Don't worry about what other people think, as long as they are well done and you follow the basic guideline written in the rules they can do gak about it.

In a tourney it would peeve me off.

Tuff Tities! Its part of the game, and is clearly written into the rules. If you can keep track of units in a tourney you shouldn't be playing.

I appreciate the responses. Pretty much what I expected. Im going to meet with local store, talk to the guy that does the tourneys and see if we can hash this out. Im not worried about the conversions, Ill make them work...20+ years with improving every step of the way will help.

the wysiwyg rule will be difficulte if i go the way of the dark eldar. however, SoB would be far easier (though no flyers) to work on. Another possiblity Ive seen from my scetches is the conversion work will look similar to art images of the sisters of silence, and I could (with a bit of work) turn them into a "count-as" grey knights. More work but more cost effective.

I've played against to many people who were using a mish mash of models from here and there and everywhere not to add my .02 cents that it might peeve me off.

Big stink with count-as

I understand what your saying, however, sisters of silence would just be a theme army. which virtually gives me free reign to use a variety of codexes. though tyranids would not be probably a viable choice lol. I already have tournament armies, so this one could just be a fun army...dont know. I will see the tourney offical tommorow and hash it out. I will post here with the results in case anyone else has issues or questions.

There the problem, we have the hobbist point of view of the game and the tourney point of view. I played in many GT and local games, as long as you are going by the rules, go ahead and play. Players have to understand that not everyone like the models that GW put out.
As long as it looks good and it's internally consistent, with viable and sensible representations of the codex options, I certainly wouldn't have a problem playing you in any setting.

That said, to satisfy some of the more uppity players out there, I think I've heard of people giving their squads banners for tournament settings which fairly explicitly state what they represent, at least unit-wise (EG a backpack banner saying "Wyches" or "Emperor's Witches" or something of the sort, in a suitably florid but readable script) While that could go badly and might be a bit of a cop-out, if approached seriously and with enough decorative flair it could potentially work out without detracting too much from the overall look.
