Hi does any actually find ambush that useful normally? I suppose it is good but hard to be effective. Haven't tried it with One Eye though...

The nuisance with Ambush is in two parts.

1. You have to field an equivalent unit of equal or larger size in your main battle line. This is a big strain on your points cost and you end up with only two or three ambusing units, meaning...

2. ...that you only have a small chance of getting one turning up where you want it to. Even with Khazrak's reroll!

And don't get me started on Battle for the Pass, the Warhammer Scenario that hates Beastmen.

Beastmen Ambush

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I find it impossible to have a large killing unit show up in ambush. They will be outside of the bubble of ld and bsb and will immediately draw the attention of your enemies whole army. This is a valid tactic I believe though because the ambushing unit can cause some major damage and turmoil about 50% of the time. It will tie up a few units in his battle line to deal with them and if he doesn't it can wreck some deadly havoc on a unit.

Yet if I ambush with small units such as raiders or ungor units, combine that with a unit of harpies moving to where my ambushing unit materialized I have a lot of success. The options I have with this scenario is harassment of larger units or my opponents’ flanking units by two units of mine usually ten strong. Or I can easily wipe out any war machines or lone characters.
