Privateer Press Holiday Sale

PP has a bunch of the MK 1 books and cards on sale if anyone is still interested in those, books are all $5 and cards are all $3. They also have some bundles on armies but they're a bit overpriced...

https://store.privateerpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=334

The bundles are actually playable armies that are pretty decent though compared to army deals that other companies put out that are to clear overstock. The Cygnar one in particular is a very nice army. Pick up Epic Stryker to swap in and out and it's pretty good as is. I was only disappointed to see that they didn't include the character jack for each of the casters as part of the bundle but still pretty nice overall.

The books are good at that price also since they have alot of fluff in them.

I'm pretty tempted to get the Farrow bundle myself. It's got everything I'd want for their force.

As far as the Mk 1 books and cards....why? It's like someone playing 4th Ed. 40k. Or 3rd Ed. D&D. Why do it?

It wouldn't surprise me if there's groups that had a bad experience with the newer version of WM/H and decided not to upgrade.

Plus this is a great way to complete the collection for those who value that.

Not being a PP guy myself, do these books have value for painting guides, fluff, or similar that might differ from Mark II versions?

For D&D,t here's a lot of people that still play 3.0/3.5 as the change is pretty massive to go to 4 and some people don't like that style. Plus 3.0/3.5 had a ton of 3rd party support, including a lot of games that technically require the PHB, so it may be easier. I like 4.0, but 3.0/3.5 might be a better choice for certain games.

There's alot of fluff in there that isn't directly reprinted in MK2 since the story of Mk2 picks up after Legends. Things are referenced in character fluff but not directly the stories.

I can see playing D&D 3.0 since it's one of the last versions that was actually a D&D game.

I imagine the painting guides would be useful if you do not get the "Forces of" books.

Even if you do get them.
I found the painting section of the Trollblood book frustrating.
The only skin they show how to paint is the face.
