It's worn pretty badly, the rifling should go from breech to crown. How old's the rifle and how many rounds have you put through it?

BTW, referring to this as the Kar 98 Kurtz is redundant. The Kar 98 action was made in early 1940 in Berlin. The stock was made in 1942 (have no idea how that happened).

The reason why I put the kurz there is because there are 3 different Kar 98s.
Karabiner 98 AZ
Karabiner 98 B
Karabiner 98 K

All three are different.

I imagine that your's is Russian captured one that was re-arsenaled. Yeah, that one is pretty worn.

On the Action ALL serial numbers match (besides the bolt).
Over all there are like 7 different serial numbers on the rifle. Not that kind of import, imported as in "imported after 1968". Our government feels the need to use an electric pencil to grind in where the rifle was brought into the US at. Can you please let me know who cares about that anymore, besides you.

Remember the MG42
You NEVER have to ajust timing AND headspacing.
Which is what you must do to switch barrels one the .50 cal.
The M2 is a .50 caliber beast that is awesome but HAS never been FEARED like the MG42.
