Ye Good Ol' Green N' Gold, a Stirland Blog

Howdy ya'll! Seeing as how I'm so deeply in love with the WHFB hobby, I decided that I was going to start up a Paintin' and Modelin' blog on my up and coming Empire army.

So, to set the scene, this was on Saturday, the 4th of December, and it was a lovely (read: rainy) day to sit around and assemble my Empire Detachment box (Came in Monday, but what with school and all that.)

I've chosen Stirland as my province, but unusually I'll be throwing in all the fancy Empire tech (read: Handgunners, Helstorms, Cannons and the like) I haven't much a fluff reason for this... yet (I'm thinking something like an army straight from Wurtbad, with all the trimmings a normal Stirland army wouldn't have) Anywhoo, you're here for piccies, and hopefully these'll do for now.

Ahh, sprues, sprues, sprues. There's only 10 Halberdiers left on this frame, I'd assembled the other one earlier.

Not much here, just 20 Halberdiers. And can I just state how lame the State Troop banner is? It doesn't even have a full banner-pole! Of course, I rectified this with judicious use of the Handgunner banner

Some work on the Handgunners. I've already gotten the green on all of them, this is just kind of an out of date pic. By the way, yellow is so much easier with Iyanden Darksun, I think I'm in love.

Finally, I've got my "unit filler" for my handgunners. Yup, it's the adorable Powder Monkey, and a barrel. With the additional spare musician I have, this little guy's job is to help make the Handgunners 12 men strong in small games

Update, though a small one.

Started finishing up on painting the Handgunners, though I'm wretchedly slow at painting.

Yup, here they are, in their Yellowy-Green glory. Sorry for the bad image quality, I was slightly in a rush.

This one's the test model, and while the face needs some work, so does the leather, which leaves me at a total loss, any ideas on what paints work best?

A close up of the process

So, essentially, Iyanden, wash with Gryphonne Sepia, then a re-highlight with Iyanden (Note that originally I used Devlan Mud, so some Handgunners will be darker)

And, before we go, more work on the Monkey!
