X-Board

I was intrigued by this offering from Battlefoam, as I often played in tournies. I was unsure of the size, and while I knew it would be good for my BA, I was sure it wouldn't work for my Guard army.

It seems I was mostly correct.

The pic above shows all the vehicles in my 1850 point guard army. As I was more interested in size comparison, some do not have their turrets on, and you can see the stand for the valk, but I didn't see any point in getting it out.

While all the vehicles I need fit on the board, they are too close together to be displayed properly. Then I thought about it, and decided to play around with the board a bit.

It fits all the vehicles, and could likely fit all the infantry @ 1850 in the two open areas on the side. Given the sheer number of models I can fit into an 1850 guard army, I'm somewhat impressed.

Is this for carrying your army between tables? If that was the case I would never put the valkyrie on the flightstand and carry it around, it seems like that is asking for it to fall on the floor. It seems quite expensive unless you are actually using it as a display board, and the modelled terrain would go to waste.

This product is for both display and inter-table transport.

We are in agreement, Trickstick, this board is mostly inappropriate for Mech Guard, and possibly Orks. Certain Nid Builds will suffer as well.

That being said, I can see it working well for almost any other army. I have Marines, Daemons, Blood Angels and CSM. They'd work quite well with this set-up.

Looks decent. I can't see it being insanely practical, but you know.. it would look spiffy for a single army display table!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh and just curious, what do the legs look like on this bad boy? how is it supported? & where do you grab it for moving it about?

There are no legs, it rests on it's honeycombed frame. There are cut outs on the side for carrying. The bottom of the tiles are also honey combed into 1 inch by 1 inch squares, allowing for magnets to be glued in a predictable pattern on the underside.

Since I bought it for my BA force, it will be more than adequate for my needs.
