My lighting stinks, please lend a suggestion

My house is dark. All I have is a small table lamp with a daylight fluorescent bulb and the over head ceiling fan light. It is very dark on one side and shadow are cast everywhere.

I need a decent light solution that is inexpensive. I don't really have anything to clamp it to or hang from.

Also, what kind of light bulb should I get?

Thanks,
Ted

I go to thrift stores and buy old desk lamps and replace the bulbs with daylight CFL bulbs. 2 of them, one on each side, should be around $5 each for the bulbs and lamps. $20 solution.

I would agree with spacebase. That is solution 1. Solution 2 could be to just go to a store a buy a hobby lamp. I obught a lamp about 12 years ago from IKEA, 15$ with a halogen light, still going strong!
