2500 dwarfs competitive AoD

All right longbeards I'm relatively new to fantasy and am on my way to a sizable dwarf force. I have a 2.5k tourney coming up in a month or so and need some advice. Here the list

Runelord w/AoD, shield, MRo Balance, Ro Stone, Ro Spellbreaking 373
Thane w/BSB MRo grungi 115

13 quarrellers w/GW and Musician 161
12 quarrellers w/GW and Musician 148
30 Warriors w/GW and FC 325
25 Warriors w/SD and FC 250

30 Hammerers w/SD and FC 415
15 Miners w/ FC and Steam Drill 215
Cannon w/Ro Forging, Ro Burning130
GT w/Ro Accuracy, 2 Ro Penetrating, Engineer 170
GT w/Ro Accuracy, Ro Penetrating, Ro Burning, Engineer 150
Organ Gun 120

for a grand total of 2497 points. I have pretty stout anti magic with 4 extra dispel dice and stealing one from their powerpool. Miners go warmachine hunting hopefully getting the charge turn two with the anvil what do you guys think? Also is ancient power worth it or is it too dangerous

I wish I could offer more advice, but I've shied away from the anvil because I don't think I could protect it enough. That being said, I'd like to try it some more, though. This looks like it has potential for sure.

If you expect the miners to be purely going after warmachines, they could probably be smaller, and don't need a banner. That being said, don't know where you would necessarily push the points (other than more hammerers?) Speaking of which- have you given them all shields? What is SD standing for?

If you gave the hammerers shields, that's likely 30pts you can save right there. Unless you need those dwarves to have better saves vs shooting on the way in, you can't use the shields in CC.

Having 5 dice up in the magic phase is more than "pretty stout," it shuts it down wholly except for IF. Nice one, there.

I don't see the point of GW on your quarrellers. Are you wanting a nasty surprise for any fast cav that get to you? From what I've seen, most any unit that gets to quarrellers will either already have issues with Stand and shoot, t4 and HA, or will kill that unit to a dwarf before you get a swing. In 8e, there is no middle ground. Save the pts, put them elsewhere.

I agree with Zeke. If your miners are WM hunting, they are larger than needed and do not need fc. If they are meant to be flexible, you have them spot on.

Re:2500 dwarfs competitive AoD

I would put one unit of quarrellers up to 10 to 15 strong, full command and give them greatweapons and ranger upgrade. Set them up in terrain if you can so they can harass your enemies units with shooting, forcing them to split up forces to send a unit after them to deal with them. If whatever attacking them survives the greatweapon attacks it should be badly beaten up. Plus away from the front-line action. Then you should have some extra points left to squeeze in an extra combat thane or whatever takes your fancy.

Quallerrers are dead cool. I'd suggest a single big block of them with Mucisian, baner and great weapons. Dump em in the middel and give everything close hell. (i havent tried it or anything but it a cool idea)

Together you can take your pick at what to strike and possibly combine charges. Probably not viable points-wise till 2500 or 3000 battles but could be a good way to keep enemies on the backfoot.

Re:2500 dwarfs competitive AoD

That sounds like a good idea. The only problem I foresee is the rangers being wiped out before the miners show up and then the miners meeting an equally fatal ending. They would be divided and conquered before they had a chance to work together. Maybe having a unit of 10 quarrelers, at least 15 rangers, and at least 10 miners would be better?

2500 dwarfs competitive AoD

That depends. I've been seeing a lot of games still decided by who wins the "chaff" battle. Clear out the redirectors, get to the war machines, and redirect away the big blocks.

What I do like about rangers is that even if you don't get a tasty target, you can force the enemy into unfavorable deployments with the threat of scouts. Artillery gets stuck in less than ideal firing positions and other units are pulled back to keep you from slipping through. At least, this has been my experience against other people's scouts, and when deploying mine against Empire gunlines...

Good point red_zeke, deployment is very important. But i still think its important not to make your units to small when playing dwarfs because they will have to stand up to themselfs in CC a lot of times, which rangers can be really good at as long as they're not too few.
I think theres points to save in the grudge throwers, they could be trimed downed a bit because the enemh only needs about single cannon ball for each and there's a lot of points gone. Bolt throwers are cheap and great things to use in deployment to trick the opponent, put they in a far flank go threaten with a flank shot and he will try to deal with it and you will have less redirectors to deal with.

I played with rangers for the first time yesterday at 1500 points and was somewhat underwhelmed 12 quarrellers w/GW he ignored them and 12 shots weren't enough to hurt lizardmen with life magic I think i will try 15 and see if it's enough to cause a reaction.
