Basically if you just want to see the pictures stop here as it gets a little tl;dr.

I really want something different from ultramarines, because alot of people say they are "boring" so I have gone for a different re-imagined scheme with some of the beautiful new fw armour sets and as many bits from my collection mixed in (there are so many variations on the scheme, I cannot see one being the "correct" scheme.) The base is VMC Ultramarines blue with an Andrea blue blended highlight. Weathering with pigments, scratches and thinned VMC Iraqui sand. Bases are mixtures of plasticard, chequer plate plasticard and any random bits I think are suitable for the bases. If you have any questions about the painting, feel free to ask.

Backstory: I wanted a strong narrative as to why the entire 1st company would be deployed, where they are mostly used as a support force for the other companies to use as auxiliaries. So after reading the first heretic, I thought word bearers incursion into the Ultramar system, some sortoff industrial planet/forgeworld (possibly calth?) would be a nice setting and give me reason for the entire 1st company to be deployed. This will be set before the battle of Macragge, mainly so I can have a full fluffy company with all the equipment you'd expect them to have. For squad names I will be borrowing from mainly Greco-Romanic mythology but will borrow from other mythos.

Now onto some of my own narrative (not that it's any good):

"Squad epsilon, scout biker squad of the 10th company, 13th chapter of the Adeptus Astartes, rode off on patrol, a routine patrol. Nothing other than some petty smuggling would be expected, which would be left to the Arbites to sort out. Squad epsilon was never seen again. A single encoded transmission from Sergeant Galt was picked up by satellite and transferred directly to Ultramar command.
A daemonic chilling laugh echoed around the command room.
The word bearers had arrived."
