Tzeentch WoC 1.5K list, newbie to WoC, C&C appreciated

So, I recently came into possession of some Warriors of Chaos from a friend who didn't want theirs anymore. The stuff they gave me includes a Chaos Sorcerer, Chaos Chariot (that will be turned into a Warshrine,) 12 Chaos Warriors with Shields, 12 Chaos Warriors with an Extra Hand Weapon (both units have full command,) a Chaos Chariot, and 5 Chaos Knights. I'm looking to augment the list by adding in a few more Chaos Warriors and a nice bunch of Marauders, and adding in a Sorcerer Lord. The army would be Tzeentch-based because I love the lore behind the Changer of the Ways, so here's the list I've come up with so far. Thoughts and comments would be very helpful!

1480

LORDS – 25%
Chaos Sorcerer Lord
-Lvl 4, MoT, Spell Familiar, Blasphemous Amulet, Stream of Corruption, Disk of Tzeentch

CORE - 64.86%
15 Chaos Warriors - 290
-MoT, Shields, Full Command

15 Chaos Warriors - 290
- MoT, Extra Hand Weapon, Full Command

25 Marauders - 190
-Flails, Light Armor, MoT, Full Command

25 Marauders - 190
-Flails, Light Armor, MoT, Full Command

RARE - 10.14%
Chaos Warshrine - 150
-MoT

Thoughts and comments?

Lord - needs some work, I would drop the Spell Familiar and the Amulet to get a 4+ ward save.

HW/S Warriors - 15 is alright, 18 is better for an anvil unit.

AHW Warriors - 15 works but why MoT? Unless its theme these guys usually should go MoK for the extra attack.

Marauders - Flails are good, Light Armor and MoT not so much. You probably should go MoK for the additional attack so you have a better chance of breaking them on the first turn. Ive seen MoN marauders do alright as well. Light Amror is a waste of points, with he points saved per unit you can buy more marauders. The only time you really want to buy light armor is with a Shield and MoT.

The only reason why I'm sticking with the MoT for all the units is because I like running fluffy lists, and the idea of a Cult of Tzeentch is particularly appealing, but I'll see what I can come up with. Maybe remove the MoT and Light Armour on the Marauders, replace with MoK like you said, and then see if I can get the other 6 Chaos Warriors for larger blocks. Not sure yet, though. If possible though I'd like to stick with a unified MoT theme.

Agree with Casper on a lot of points. I too would drop the spell familiar & amulet to get the talisman of preservation.

I would also drop both magical standards from the warriors as well as the light armor from the marauders. This gives 120 points, with which I would pick up 3 ahw warriors (48), the rapturous standard for the shield warriors (20), and add 5 marauders to each brick (2x25). This leaves 2 points, but since you need 3 more points to buy the 4+ ward for the disc rider, I'd drop a marauder champ (8), leaving 5 points to buy an extra marauder for one of the units ---

Wait a sec, it looks like your list is actually 1550, so I'll have to cut some things ...

L: Sorcerer Lord - MoT, level 4, 4+ ward, disc = 355

C: 18 Warriors - MoT, full command, ahw = 338
C: 15 Warriors - MoT, rapturous standard, full command, shields = 310
C: 30 Marauders - MoT, standard, musician, flails = 182
C: 30 Marauders - MoT, standard, musician, flails = 182

R: Warshrine = 130
--------
1497

Points were easy to cut: no stream on the disc (sad but meh), no champs for either marauders (meh), no 3+ ward on the warshrine (it doesn't remotely need it, so meh).

- Salvage

Hmm, yeah. Just went back over it and looks like I grossly miscounted some points there in the original post. Whoops.

I'm kinda liking the list there, with the two 3x10 hordes of Marauders - not something to take lightly. Kinda wish that it'd been possible to keep the champs and the Stream of Corruption, though. Either that or if it were possible to cut back enough points somewhere to fit in another 3 Warriors to make it two blocks of 18, but I don't think that'd be possible with the way it's set up.

Only thing I'm kind of tempted to do is change the Talisman of Preservation to the Talisman of Endurance and remove the Rapturous Standard, since then I'd fit in Stream of Corruption (which I was kind of drawn to) and the Marauder Champs, but I don't really think that'd be a good deal since it's making the Sorc. Lord less survivable and the Champs aren't too huge a loss, especially compared to making the smaller unit of Warriors more likely to stick around to fight.

Going off Boss Salvgae's list; i'd prefer Halberds over AHWs on the 18 warriors (they can't use shields either way, both are at initiative, only AHW gives you 1 more attack TO THE FRONT RANK ONLY (capsed for emphasis) but Halberds give the whole unit S5, no matter the rank.

It's a trade-off of 24 S4 I5 attacks to 18 S5 I5 attacks; against foes where S4 will negate armour, they are the better choice, but few enemies have their entire armour negated by S4 (most core troops I believe carry a 5+ AS, which will be negated by halberds).

Even though you lose 6 attacks, I still back halberds here.

I also dislike champions on the warrior units. Why are they there? 1 extra attack for just short of the cost of another warrior? Is here there to accept a challenge and die to save the other models for a turn? What is his purpose?

The Lord's load-out confuses me slightly. I can see where a ward save against everything can be handy, but for 20pts less you can have the Golden Eye which gives you a 4+ ward against normal and magic missiles. At this points level, not much else should threaten your sorcerer.

Also, if you're considering SoC, i'd also consider Bloodcurdling Roar; SoC should really be left for a killy hero/lord or the BSB as a challenge attack (whilst you should always have a champ in the BSB unit, having the BSB able to deliver 2D6 S3 hits with -1 to the enemy armour save at I5 can really help his survivability either by grievously wounding or killing the challenger).

In his current set-up, the Roar favours the Sorcerer; it may not look like much, but it isn't One Use Only like SoC, and since everything wounds on at least a 6+ now, you can threaten elite troops (usually in small numbers), ranged troops and war-machines. The disc gives him the mobility he needs to make the Roar work.

More stuff later on when it isn't 3:40am

Halberds (S5 for all) or shields (parry ward for all) far outclass ahw, I agree. I figure though that Vadar fancied the look of warriors with two weapons - and the ease of modeling them vs halberds, which are most often taken from knight lances bought from a secondary source - or was being different or such.

On roar over stream, I should hope that my love affair with bloodcurdling roar has been well publicized by now. 8th may have meant larger units and fewer small elite troops to nuke (read: knights), but with the removal of the wounding cap that S1 ruins the day of all those few solo units left (read: war machines) ...

- Salvage

Sadly, it's less a choice of preference for the Warriors and more of building off of the stuff I got from my friend - all the stuff she gave me was already built, and the one unit of 12 Warriors has the AHW instead of other options. I'm simply trying to build off of it without having to spend any more money then I need to in order to build a larger unit. Same goes for the Full Command as well - both units of Warriors were pre-built with all 3 options. Otherwise I'd either stick them with a Shield or Halberd.

As for the Lord, I'm more than welcome for any suggestions, since that's one of the things I don't really have yet. I'm curious about the Roar - with the 6+ to wound on everything regardless of Toughness even 2d6 S1 hits could do some damage like you guys say, but I'm curious as to how it's performed in games. I'm guessing that you guys have had decent luck with it?
