I have just purchased a shiny looking High Elf dragon, but alas, the rock base does nothing for me. I want my dragon to be flying- not looking like he's about to face-plant after an ill-advised dive of a low ruin.

To do this, I intend to fashion him a flying base similar to the ones used for other flying beasties. However, I want him to be flying reasonably high- certainly higher than the current tallest flying base I can find. I was thinking the best way would be to get a clear plastic rod and make a hole in the underside of the dragon for it to slot into... but I have no idea where to get such a rod, and what size I aught to use.

Obviously I will check on e-bay, but what size? Would 4mm be too thick? Or would anything smaller than that be too flimsy to keep Mr Dragon aloft?

Yeah, I don't want him wobbling and flopping about up there- that would be a bit embarrising. At the same time, though, I don't want a rod the same width as the dragon's belly, cos that would be ugly...
