First Beastmen 1000pts list

None of this is assembled yet, so everything can be changed if its a better solution.

Heroes:

Wargor
Shield
Light armour
Horn of the First Beast

Bray-Shaman
Level 2 Wizard
Lore of Beasts

Core:

Gor herd
20 Gors
FC
AHW

Ungor herd
20 Ungors
Musician
Standard bearer
Spears

Tuskgor chariot

Tuskgor chariot

Special:

Bestigor herd
20 Bestigors
FC
Gleaming Pennant

Total 998 points.

The idea of this list is to ullitize Primal Fury to the fullest in every unit in the list with as many attacks as possible. The goal of the wargor is just to stay alive while the shaman buffs the units in need and the chariots move up on the flanks.
The question is should I split up the ungors to two units of ten with no spears and have one of the units ambush to tie up eventual warmachines or shooty units, or should I just leave them as they are as a meat shield with a surprising amount of attacks?

I would keep the ungors with spears in as big a unit as possible. Maybe get rid of the horn and make the wargor a battle standard bearer. If you can afford it give him a shield, heavy armour and gnarled hide for survivability. BSB are great for all armies. But especially for beastmen. This will let you re-roll primal fury and any other leadership based test. Critical with a so so leadership army like this. That special rule defines this army.

Otherwise it looks like a fun force to play. You have multiple chariots for speed and enough gors/bestigors to bring pain. With ungors for extra throwaway bodies. If your strapped for points you can always drop the gor champion. Unless you want to keep him in there for challenges. Plus the shaman with beasts lore is great for a mix of augments and some other options/magic defence. Best of luck!

First Beastmen 1000pts list

Ahh, you are completely right, I didn't realize that primal fury is just a leadership test, on wich the battle standard helps, so I could just make the wargor a BSB and save 25 points. The army is only LD7 then, but I guess that a rerollable LD7 is better than LD8. The only thing I loose is the 36" range of the horn, which would be enough to affect my chariots, which also was a part of the general tactic. The spare points would let me make my wargor a bit more survivable. The reason why I added the Gor was because I had ten points left to burn and I had reached the maximum allowment for heroes.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
My army list now looks like this:

Wargor
Army battle standard
Banner of Swiftness
Heavy armour
Shield

Bray-Shaman
Level 2 Wizard

Core:

Gor herd
20 Gors
FC
AHW

Ungor herd
20 Ungors
Musician
Standard bearer
Spears

Tuskgor chariot

Tuskgor chariot

Special:

Bestigor herd
20 Bestigors
FC
Standard of Discipline

Total: 1000pts.

I have to admit that this looks like a stronger list, with better leadership for every unit. Thanks a lot!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
The Wargor joins the Ungors so they can shield him and use his LD instead of their own poor LD, and the Bray-shaman joins the Gors that he will be buffing most of the time. The Bestigors kick some ass all by themselves and the chariots flank and hit tagets of opportunity.
