i drilled the hole in the weapon, where the plug was that attached the weapon to the body. i drilled it so it would stay longer. the magnets i put in the body section was the same size as the

Don't get discouraged. magnets are a lot easier than they look. For the size, they are amazingly strong. You could use a 3/32" in the hull of the vehicle and use 1/8" for the actual weapons.

You can double up magnets for a stronger hold. Drill a deeper hole and put 2 on top of each other.
