				<description><![CDATA[ Hey guys,<br /> <br /> Just a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> player without much knowledge of Fantasy here, but been doing some research about Greenskins by reading the codex and I've been left curious about the differences between <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(575);'>NGs</span> and Goblins.<br /> <br /> I mean, it seems that <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(575);'>NGs</span> have many more options and have one more initiative point (though one less <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>LD</span>): Is this the sole difference? Why would you take Gobbos over <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(575);'>NGs</span>?]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(147);'>WHFB</span> Tactics would probably be the place.<br /> <br /> To give you a real answer, I would say they are a niche choice, if you really desire to have a slightly more resilient (due to better <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>Ld</span>) block of gobo's. However, I don't see many people using them and they really are just a sub-par choice of units.<br /> <br /> I can't remember, but are there rumours of the O&G Army Book being updated this spring, or only a new wave of models? A new book might shift them back in favor... I wouldn't hold my breath though.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ That is, as far as I know, true.<br /> <br /> Henners, to answer you here and now, rather than look for your thread again when it moves, a short summary:<br /> <br /> In 7th edition, having a shield and a hand weapon increased your armour one further, rather than giving a 6+ Parry save. Considering that, regular goblins had a 4+ armour save and better <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>Ld</span>, and I was next to worthless in 7th, so they were all-around more durable.<br /> <br /> But...yes. No one fielded a block of gobbos back then, because big blocks died about as easily as smaller ones. Most importantly, though, is that Night Goblins have fanatics, and so people will take them over reg'lar type gobbos every time.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Night goblins all the way.  Or maybe 97% of the way.  They die at essentially the same rate, but with the cheaper price tag (if you're going for shields) you can have more of the night goblins.  Add to that the extra options available for night goblins, and the only reason you would be looking at common gobbos is for the leadership purposes.  But that should be overcome with proper use of a general's "bubble" in most cases, or with an attached hero in almost all others.]]></description>

A couple fanatics in an archer unit can do nasty stuff to wannabe flanking fast cavalry, etc.<br /> <br /> I put the full netters and 2 fanatics combo on my archer night gobbos. 				<description><![CDATA[ Goblin with short bow and shield.<br /> 5+ armor, 6+ parry, still cheap.<br /> <br /> You could go horde, with light armor, shield, short bow and spear for 6 points each.  Volley fire, then fight in 4 ranks when charged. 				<description><![CDATA[ Whoa, whoa, go easy on yerself there. A lot of the options listed in the books are a "they may have one of the following" things. Just not these.<br /> <br /> Night goblins can exchange their shields for bows at no cost, but they can't have bows and shields.<br /> <br /> Matt's right that each unit has its uses, it's just that night goblins have more uses; a big block of night goblins with bows and nets is still (usually) more survivable than regular goblins with shields. If they have spears, they don't get the parry save, but get an extra set of WS2 S3 attacks, which is very limited in usefulness. And while fanatics can hurt your own forces, careful deployment and a small amount of luck will mean they (usually) don't.<br /> <br /> Oh, and I just looked at it, and goblins can only have bows <i>or</i> spears, not both. So a doubled-up mass of pointy things is a no-go, as of now. It was a good idea though, Matt (as good as any with goblins). I was going to try it...]]></description>
