skaven slaves, horde (1500pts

As I have absoloutley no experience with true hordes armies as i'm an elf player.

IF i had 12 blocks of fifty slaves and two budget grey seers in a list against high elves, do you reckon it work at all. i was thinking that it would definatly drag most enemies to thei are death through numbers but im kinda worried about their cowardice. any thoughts.

No, it won't work. You have nothing in the list beyond the occasional spell that can actually kill anything reliably. You don't win through sacrificing your own units or purely tar pitting the enemy.

As well, a single general will not be able to pass his LD to 600 slaves.

With 1500 points, you only get 375 in lords. That's a max of a single grey seer.
600 slaves won't work.

How about 300 slaves, 4 units of 10 storm vermin with poison wind mortars, a BSB and a Grey Seerer.
You've even got 50 points left over.

Now you can hold and shell them with mortars, and toss in a plague or two.

-Matt

Re:skaven slaves, horde (1500pts

Agreed. You need something that will kill the enemy, slaves simply cannot do it on their own.

The Rare section is full of good possibilities. A-bomb, Doomwheel, WL cannon are all soild performers... at least until the blow themselves up, so get more than one. Plague Monks tear through ligher units pretty well; add the Furnace to bring some real punch to them. Stormvermin can handle the heavier stuff... so long as there are plenty of slaves to help tie the unit up so they can hit the flank.

Engineers are also nice this time around. One naked with a Doomrocket is almost required for a good Skaven list; a second one naked with a Brass Orb helps deal with the big nasties. Then some more butt-naked to lead your slave units and give them their higher leadership.

And maybe one upgraded to actually throw some spells around.

Weapon teams are a definite maybe. Fill your rare points, and if you still have room then see what you can do with what's left.

I concur with all the replies above me. Slaves are not the final say in any conflict. Just because your opponent is stuck in a tarpit doesn't mean he's going to die from it.

What you should take advantage though is that you can SHOOT into combat that your slaves are engaged in. Poisoned Wind Globadiers, Jezzails, Warpfire Thrower and Poisoned Wind Mortar etc. will ensure any foe caught by the slaves are going to regret getting caught by the slaves.

As for leadership I usually just throw in a bare-naked Warlock Engineer with the slaves and field them 5 file and 10 deep.
