Weird New RP style i'm seeing around now

What is with these New(new to me, I've never really seen them before) RP's where people just pick option A or option B? What happened to Roleplaying the old(the one I was introduced and advanced with) way of, setting a goal, and just Roleplaying the hell out of it until the goal was accomplished. Which the goal usually never happened because all the one's I've done, had a GM(DM or what ever you want to call them) would throw twists and challanges that forced the character to make a difficult choice.

I don't know. I don't like them too.

I prefere the ones like you said. But the other kind is more available.
I pesonally think this is odd, as it limits your input. You can't decide things for yourself.

The only thing I can think of to play these games is:

- You have limited imagination (Wich is wierd since everybody on dakka plays miniature games; and we aren't famous for a lack of imagination.)
- You don't have a lot of time, but you stil want to play a RP variant.
- To up your postcount.
- Your English is not that good.

Can't come up with other, but i'm sure their are.

I am on quite a lot of them but I myself do prefer the sort of ones you are talking about.

Like zombies and stuff like that.

Indeed NIkev, they are pretty fail. But you have to sort the men from the boys and whatnot..

By the way, NIkev, why don't you join my roleplay? It'd be great to have you aboard and RP with you again.

Some more reasons are probably, because, I don't know about your roleplays, but the one's me and Dark and my other friends usually do.....get insanly crazy with the twists......just about to M.Night Shamylon level crazy.

They probably started that way because they didn't want the RPs to go crazy and uncontrolable....and you can say they can't get crazy and uncontrolable...but they can be.

Also, adding with that, some people probably did it beacuse they wanted more control, and others(who were possibly new), or just people who weren't the ALPHA'S of Roleplaying, saw this and thought that this was how RP's were supposed to be played....creating more in the wake.....but I bet if either Sillyboy(I'm assuming you'd make a great RP), Dark(I KNOW he has like 20 out there....dead or dying), or myself made one, it would probably be the gak compared to most now.

Which one are you expecting me to join....and be warned, I won't be reading like 100 pages to get caught up. Its been a while since I've oldstyle RP'd and would probably need to ease into a new one....

Well, I believe we're on page 73 at the minute. Yes, reading the entirety of the roleplay is a requirement, but believe me, it is well worth it.

Besides, it's not like I'm making you read the first two roleplays in the series!

At the minute, we're in a bit of a deadlock because of.. eh, stuff. Regardless, it is a great read. Besides, we're going for 100+ pages [dakka record ftw!] so you might want to jump aboard before the number of pages escalates again. When everyone really gets roleplaying, we usually knock out at least 2 pages a day.

I will check it out....but I may not do it....I'm not usually on Dakka THAT much anymore....but that depends on how interesting this thread is.

Has anyone else seen the rankings on those odd RPs?
I just(accidentilly, I thought it was something else) clicked on one and I saw a list of the rankings....the Imperial Guard does not go from Penal Legion to Guardsmen.....your a penal soldier.....thats it....you can never be any more than that. Unless of course your watcher thinks that you've done your part.....and that NEVER happens....ever.
