SWAG for a big 2 day tourney

Hey guys I am curious if you would rather pay a bit more to have some swag added in like a gift bag sort of thing or if you would rather do it on the cheap. Please bear in mind that this is specifically for a 2 day full on GT style tourney. (swag for those who don't know are little gift sorts of things that come in gift bags but can be tshirts or whatever else for the purposes of this poll).

I will post a poll, but I am curious.

Thanks for being market research,

Patrick

PS any amounts listed are arbitrary and have no bearing other than to kind of get an idea.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Oh yeah, please feel free to add any other comments on cool extras you have seen at other tourneys or any other thoughts you have.

I personally don't really mind the cost. And a geeky shirt is always fun. I like stuff like dice/shot glasses/mugs/shirts. I'm a dork and I like to remind myself of it constantly. Keeps me humble

Don't lie, you gotta have something to build/paint models in that won't ruin decent clothes. Or do dirty chores around the house. Dork t-shirts are win for that kind of thing

SWAG for a big 2 day tourney

Tricky question. For the larger GT's, a large % of the registration fees are going toward affording the venue, the paper printing costs, the overhead, the supplies, the terrain and tables that are required or need to be updated, and the tons of ancillary costs that sorta spring up on you the first time you do one, and then .... well, are budgeted for in futur ones.

At the NOVA, for example, the rate we charge is so we can meet a very strict budget ... not so that we can use it to buy swag for people ... we get our swag off sponsor donations, both because it costs them far less on the dollar than it would us just to buy it, and because frankly to afford even swag distribution for a larger event you'd have to charge a sight more than $5 more in some cases.

That's the thing - if you charge more, you've gotta distro it evenly (in my opinion). The charge itself should be for the experience being served, and the venue / organization / etc. Might as well go with the last option and just let people buy a shirt or whatever at event.

At the NOVA 2011, there'll be a unique t-shirt for everyone that's got NOVA and sponsor designwork on it, but a sponsor is donating it.

I guess for a smaller event, I'd rather you not charge more at all, b/c honestly a bunch of swag isn't really the draw I'd think.

But, it's a good question.
