				<title>Very Rough LM Homebrew Special Characters</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ NOTE: If the title did not do it for you, these <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(382);'>SCs</span> are in an exceedingly rough format, being created simply by ideas I compiled and added before I forgot them and arranged as best as I could. Things may be drastically over/under costed/powered, this was unavoidable; posts that simply state things as being overpowered with little or no attempt at being constructed will be ignored; continued posts of the same content will be reported. Now, because caps seems to drill this home to a lot of people: <u><i><b>CONSTRUCTIVE</b></i></u> CRITICISM ONLY!<br /> <br /> You may notice that they are both short on fluff... why write fluff for things you aren't even sure will take off? I've got ideas for if they do take off, but i'm ready to scrap them if they're irreparable.<br /> <br /> One more thing!<br /> <br /> Xilixi - My custom LM Temple City, home of my custom LM army. Razed to the ground twice only to be reborn from fire each time.<br /> <br /> Main worries:<br /> Both were thought up with the intention of being Hero level; currently Gho-xa fits the bill of late-tier Hero but Oxotli could scrape early-tier Lord...<br /> Gho-xa's Hauberk rules being too complex. I couldn't write them to convey what I meant any other way.<br /> Oxotli's rules being too overpowered/complex<br /> Points! I'm hopeless with points. The avenger is really a minor item, since he's BS3, he won't be hitting often enough for it to really matter.<br /> The Hauberk is overly complicated.<br /> I'd simplify the rules a bit, as he's over-geared, and has abilities that over-lap. Probably gunna dump it and reduce <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(14);'>BS</span> to 0.<br /> <br /> Hauberk is overly complicated, which is what I was worried about. It was just something to try and break the monotony of 'X armour/weapon confers Y special rule.' and 'A armour/weapon confers B special rule.' you see in army books. Each time I gave it something, I tried to give it a downside to compensate. How about I keep the leadership test and Hatred and simply have Hatred replaced with Frenzy if the test is failed? Either that or I need to re-write the fluff for the Hauberk and keep it a straight Hatred.<br /> <br /> The gear loadout was the set him apart. All the LM characters are overpriced for what they do, a Scar-Veteran can buy a weapon and a bit of armour and be just as effective, if not more. I didn't want him to be a character who got 1 special item that set him apart and that's it. The thought process I go through when looking at the LM characters is "Yeah, that seems nice, but I can get a scar-veteran with X weapon and Y armour or Z talisman and have a cheaper version of him."<br /> <br /> For the War-scythe, you are right in saying it's two-handed; it says so in the first line of it's rules. I wanted it to be a halberd-esque item, but the halberds and spears in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(147);'>WHFB</span> don't exactly work realisticly, in that something that long would surely strike before a charging enemy with a shortsword, hence the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(474);'>ASF</span> against charges in the front arc. That's something i'd like to keep, even if it means tweaking it a little, so that he might lose the strength bonus as he puts all his weight behind bracing for impact rather than lunging for an attack, for example.<br /> <br /> The pursuit is something i'm not sure of. Spending X points on a character just to have him baited off the field seems a little harsh, but the enemy doesn't get <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(140);'>VPs</span> for him leaving the battle that way, and it adds a little more thought that just pushing him up the table and charging whatever is close enough. Roll a dice, on a 1 he doesn't transform, on a 2-5 he transforms into one of 3 possible forms, on a 6 he can choose any vailable form. I honestly don't see what the problem is... The transforms are hardly broken either. The gorilla gets a reasonable statline, but only 2 attacks and a 5+/5++; the tiger gets 1 more attack and better I, but only has a T and S of 3. The turle gets a single attack at I2, but increased toughness and a 4+/5++.<br /> <br /> The better versions might be a little powerful, but you've a 1/6 chance of getting one of them for one turn of a single game. It's like saying you can have your hydra for the first turn only. He might never roll a 6, he might roll it once but on the first turn where there's nothing to do with it, and never gets it again, he might get it exactly when he needs it. As for walking through it vs someone. Show them before the game; during the game, roll, say, a 4, point to the transform you want, get on with the game. I'm going to defend this rule, because I see nothing wrong with it as it is...<br /> <br /> Spell generation was something funky to try. I wanted to give him possible access to thos elores so nobody takes him and shapeshifts him every turn; I want there to be some sort of weighing process between shapeshifting and casting; "I could shapeshift... but I could also do more damage with this spell...". Probably needs a re-work.<br /> <br /> The rod was, again, something different. Able to remove the chart and perhaps keep it as holding a bound spell (A toned-down Fury of Lustria?) and being a magical hand weapon.]]></description>

				<title>Very Rough LM Homebrew Special Characters</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ The problem with Gho-xa is that he's too good for a hero.  He buffs the whole unit in multiple ways, has a 2+ armor save, T5 S6, has hate and frenzy, and killing blow, and stubborn.<br /> In the context of a lizardmen army list, it's breaking it.  You can take an already awesome Life-Star, and throw this guy in it, and he amplifies their power significantly.<br /> <br /> The problem with the other guy is that he is effectively ~5 special characters.  It's hard enough keeping track of one guy, let alone 5 home brewed stat-lines.  I'd be happier with stats I am familiar with.<br /> How about you roll a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(24);'>D6</span>, and use the statline below:<br /> 1) Cold One (no saurus rider, yes, this does make him stupid)<br /> 2) Jungle Swarm (if in a unit, they become unbreakable, and unstable as long as he is in the swarm form)<br /> 3) Kroxigor<br /> 4) Salamander (no handlers)<br /> 5) Razordon (no handlers)<br /> 6) Steggadon (no skinks)<br /> If he rolls the number that matches his current form, he reverts back to skink for that turn.<br /> I'd treat this as the transformation spell, he is allowed to be in units when transformed.<br /> <br /> I'm a fan of home brewed, but as written, I wouldn't allow the first for being over-powered, and wouldn't like the 2nd, because he does too much that I'm not used to.<br /> <br /> As for the fluff on special characters gear, I wouldn't worry about that.  I always suggest starting with the theme of the character, and then add items with fluff to match that theme; not trying to fit items into characters, and not trying to "fix" basic mechanics of the game.<br /> <br /> -Matt]]></description>

His profile should show a 5+ Scaly Skin and then the Heavy Armour of the Hauberk.<br /> <br /> He also does not have frenzy and hatred unless he fails a leadership test on cold-blooded Ld8; i've already suggested that when this happens, Frenzy displaces Hatred and hoped for your views on it.<br /> <br /> Stubborn might be pushing it.<br /> <br /> As for the other guy; they're just statlines. It's not like i'm going to keep them to myself until halfway through the game. I'm not familiar with any <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(27);'>DE</span>, HE, Dwarf, OnG, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(138);'>VC</span> or Skaven etc. statlines, but I will read the army book beforehand and learn them, I won't disallow their use on the grounds that i'm not familiar with the HPA's comibnation statlines and special rules.<br /> <br /> I still don't understand what is hard about the shape-shifting.
