I think you could probably cram a few DCD's into this list too, make it even worse. Heres what I came up with.

Libby w/ Jump pack, Sword & Shield

Furioso in a pod

Furioso in a pod

10x Assault Squad; 2x melta, PFist

10x Death Company; 3x PWeap, 1x THam, Lemartes

DCD Blood Talons in a pod

DCD Blood Talons in a pod

Dreadnaught w/ multimelta in a pod

Dreadnaught w/ multimelta in a pod

Dreadnaught w/ multimelta in a pod

1995

You're assault Squad drops in and claims an objective while everything else destroys the enemy and contests every other objective. You dont need to claim them all, just one more than your opponent. The Death company and Librarian go balls-to-the-walls with the DCD's and just completely wreck face while the other dreads play utility roles and dump vehicles and scare everything.

Im going to agree with Mercer on the gun dreds. If they have a 48" range, they dont need a pod. His set up with the multimeltas in pods is pretty bank. Thats 160 points that can dump a land raider the turn it arrives.

@ Kurb; Its not 12 St7 TL shots vs 3 St 8 shots... I think the Death Co Dreadnought does it too, I think I'm not 100%. Having one scoring unit is daft because you aim for that and it dies and I have to contest every objective, in spearhead setup with capture and control this would be tough.

As mentioned Death Co are over priced and so is Lemartes.

mercer wrote:I think the Death Co Dreadnought does it (rage) too, I think I'm not 100%.

Yes it does. But still, use its drop pod to place it close to two or three units. It only has to move and run towards the nearest unit. Rage rule does not make it charge the nearest unit. If you're within charge distance of 2 or more units, you can pick which one it charges. Play the game. People want to make you move some where, be smart about it.

mercer wrote:As mentioned Death Co are over priced and so is Lemartes. Why take Lemartes when a normal Chaplain can do the same? I do like Death Co with a Chaplain, but on the table they're too expensive and hit like normal Assault Marines.

Yes they are expensive. Lemartes is only 25 pts more than a normal elites chaplain w/JP, but is not an IC and will not take up an Elite or HQ choice. He also has FC FnP and a Master Crafted crozius. Put wounds on him until he takes one so he gets all of his cool benefits, then go nuts. Hes kinda fun, and point for point better than a normal chaplain.

Yes, Death Company have Rage, we know this. Use it to your advantage. DS them on a flank where the enemy cannot draw them away from the fight, they can only draw them towards it. JP DC have an 18" threat range. If the closest unit to them is more than 18" away, you miss-placed them. Charge the distraction unit, obliterate it, and move on to the next closest unit. They also have Relentless. Give them all bolters and JP's and you have a 36" bolter death bubble. Add in FnP, FC, WS5, and base 2 attacks, thats a formidable buy for their 35pts. Throw in some PW's and a PF/TH or two, you have a disgusting little unit that hits way harder than normal assault marines. What I'm getting at is, that you cant shy away from them because they cant score objectives and have Rage. Mull over the idea, figure out ways to use it to your advantage.

mercer wrote:The only benefit of including Death Co is getting more Dreadnoughts, which is cool, but sacrifices scoring troops and that's what 40k is about at the moment and will be for sometime.

Thats not the only thing that 40k is about. And wont you be fine with 6 scoring units (3 NAS in combat squads)? So you have a 10 dood DC and 2 DCD's also.

Also, Im not trying to force you to use something you dont want to use, Im merely playing devil advocate here.

Blood Angels "DoD" - 2,000 points

Ok I tried this list out yesterday:

Librarian - jump pack, shield of sangunius & unleash rage

2 x Sanguinary Priests - jump packs

Furioso Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - blood talons, extra armour & heavy flamer

Furioso Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - blood talons, extra armour & heavy flamer

10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltaguns - Sgt w/ power fist

10 x Assault Marines - 2 x meltaguns - Sgt w/ power fist

5 x Death Company - jump packs & 2 x power fists

Death Company Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - blood talons

Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - multi melta - Pod w/ locator beacon

Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - multi melta - Pod w/ locator beacon

Dreadnought w/ Drop Pod - multi melta

Game was against Tyranids. Librarian and Assault Marines worked as normal so no change there.

Furiosos were amazing. They slaughtered everything what was in front of them with those blood talons, shooting at them didn't matter and in combat they sliced through everything; only way to stop them is to destroy a blood talon which stops the special talon re-roll attacks jobbie.

Death Company wasn't that good, as I thought. They came in got swamped by Termagants and died over three rounds of combat. Too expensive just to get a extra Dreadnought in..

Death Co Dreadnought came in and mauled a Tervigon, works same as Furioso. Pretty cool to have but needs Death Company...

Dreadnoughts did ok but multi meltas aren't that affective against multiple wound monsters which get cover saves. They did ok taking wounds and then making it into combat.

I reckon dropping the Death Co units and adding more infantry will help, it's kind of rubbish when only the infantry come down second turn and several Pods are still in reserve - need more infantry to come on. It was a fun list to play though and did better than I thought, I really enjoyed it and loved the Furiosos.

Blood Angels "DoD" - 2,000 points

Well, at least it looks like a plan.
Some armies out there can deal with 3 Dreads arriving in 1st turn.
The combo Dreads + DoA Marines is worth a try.

Yup three Dreadnoughts aren't a problem; that's why they stand back but still not a massive issue. Having a crap load of Marines coming down second turn with more Dreadnoughts can be a problem though
