Later on this week i've got a 1000 point battle against someone who will bring either Necron or Chaos space marines.

I play as Orks, and have a wide enough variety of models to create nearly whatever i want. (i do not however have commandos, big-gunz, or Trucks)

Question is, i've never played against either Necrons or Chaos space marines.

What is the best way to take these guys on? Footsloggers? dakka and lots of it? fast attack?

Trukks are nice too, but if you do not have them, then you can't field them. You could use Lootas, Deffkoptas or warbuggies for ranged stuff. I have never been a big Loota fan and I personally do not think that they are reliable. I like Deffkoptas, but they are usually one trick ponies, warbuggies are cheaper and if kept within range of the big meks KFF will get some protection.
