For one it helps you see what your mixes always look like and get to know the proper consistencies better. I use a cheap synthetic brush to grab some paint from the GW pot and place it into the cup, then I add Liquitex Airbrush Medium and stir to see if I have a thin enough mix. If not I add more AB Medium. When it's right I pour it into (charge) the airbrush and get to work.

Yeah agreed, the mediums are really your best bet. Golden or Liquitex are both fine... they don't evaporate as fast as Windex or Alcohol so you can work longer / easier, with less difficulty. Here ya go, I would also suggest not using GW paints in an airbrush, their paints were not designed for it and it oftens clogs the needle of the airbrush, and is incredibly hard to get the consistency right. (don't get me wrong though, I have and still do use some GW paints through my airbrush, and it can be done, but it's just hard to do so without wasting paint).

Citadel paints are easy to run through an airbrush and clog no more than any other acrylic paint, nor have I had any dramas getting the consistency of the paint right (it should be the same consistency with which you are painting read: skim milk). Tamiya are good, but they lack the colour range (sticking to more military colours) that we often see in 40k, so aren't always useful.

With all your acrylic paints you should strain them so you get rid of clumps, yes I know it is extra effort but it saves the hassle of having to pull your brush apart and clean it out before you can go again.
