Warriors of Chaos: How much magic?

I'm building a Warriors of Chaos army; what are your thoughts on including wizards? This is my first Fantasy army, so I have no experiences of my own to draw upon. Anyone seen (or had) any successful army lists without any at all? Perhaps A few cheap sorcerers just to have a chance to dispell enemy magic? Or cram in as much magic-using potential as I can? Thanks for your time everyone...

Warriors of Chaos: How much magic?

Personally I think all of the above is viable. I run a list with a single lvl 4 Sorcerer Lord and it has work to decent success. He's used more as a general magic support and anti-regeneration attacker (seriously there are a lot of DE in my local meta all running hydras). I run him as tzeentch in a block of chaos warriors with the infernal puppet to control any miscasts. Another WOC player runs with a lvl 4 tzeentch sorcerer and a lvl 2 nurgle. I've never played against him but his list seems more powerful then mine so maybe thats the way to go. I have heard of players running mono Khorn lists that would preclude the use of magic. As Khorn is one of (if not the most) powerful mark available to use I see that as being viable but I personally have never seen it in action.

Maybe someone will be able to give you some numbers to back up a specific route but hopefully my brief overview is helpful.

Warriors of Chaos: How much magic?

In a low magic list, I'd always run a single level 1 with the puppet.
Being able to shift the miscast means you can go for the -D6 remaining power dice, which will take the edge off the magic phase.

Like most things in 8th, it depends on the army build. If you go without magic, or without much magic, I'd take a mix of warriors and marauders, along with a few units of frenzied fast cav with flails. That will let you get to the enemy wizards pretty quick, and also having a mix of super elite choppy with super cheap choppy will mean that any single lore of magic won't completely hose you.
In a low magic list, I'd also bring at least a hellcannon (if not 2), so you aren't completely giving up 2 phases of the game.

With magic heavy, I've done 2 level 3's, and a 4 and a 2. I've theory hammered out a 3, and 3 level 1's (all fire). I really don't see more than that working; you just can't get enough dice to go around.

-Matt

Many thanks to both of you.
@ Zerodaimaru - It's very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out.
@HawaiiMatt - I like the way you think, bro. I've beem eyeing the Hellcannon since I picked up the army book, and have given many a thought to fielding more than one.

I always run a single tzeench lvl4 on a disk with the pupet. He is hard to kill, drives off weak flankers, hunts war machines, and puts a dent in big units with gateway. A great all round magic guy.

Add a lvl2 of nurgle to taste if you wish, I dont but he could serve as your scroll carrier.
