Which do you prefer to use? Twin linked obviously increases the chance to hit (from ~67% to ~89% I believe) while the other combo allows 2 AP 2 shots within 24 inches, 3 within 12 inches, provided the razorback sits still...

Razorbacks: Twin Linked Lascannon versus Lascannon / Twin Linked Plasma combo?

I prefer las/plas, but it completely depends on your playstyle and what your army hopes those razorbacks will accomplish. Having fast Razorbacks also affects the choice, so Blood Angels are more likely to benefit from Las/Plas than say space wolves (which I play with las/plas). I find that I have enough other heavy weapons that when the razorbacks miss I'm not crying, and there's a few armies that want to come close to me where I really appreciate those extra shots.

Razorbacks: Twin Linked Lascannon versus Lascannon / Twin Linked Plasma combo?

The biggest factor is the amount of certain types of weapons in your army. If you can afford a good amount of Razorbacks in your army, (5+) I think las/plas Razorback are good. Massed lascannon fire will bring down plenty of hard targets. If you've only got a handful, and not many other anti-armor weapons in the list, TL Lascannons are going to be more reliable.

Re:Razorbacks: Twin Linked Lascannon versus Lascannon / Twin Linked Plasma combo?

I run a razorback for each tact squad I run.. I run Codex Marines. Use the razorback to carry up my Combat squad while my Heavy weapon sits still in the back. Since I'm moving the razors constantly I prefer 2x Twin-linked Lascannons and 2x Twin linked assault cannons.

For me its a transport. It needs to continue to move constantly. It drops its payload or has them chill on an objective with a troop unit inside. If It was a predator or standard tank I'd run the Lascannon/Plasma combo but I like my transports mobile. 1 big gun, storm bolter with assault cannons, and hunter killers on all. Thats my thing though. You're welcome to think/play differently, thats why there are different options.

Razorbacks: Twin Linked Lascannon versus Lascannon / Twin Linked Plasma combo?

I've used both pretty extensively in mech armies and have converted all my razors to las/plasma.

First, to put what you're giving up in perspective: a single-shot lascannon that shoots every turn during a 6-turn game gets 4 hits on average. A twinlinked lascannon gets a little over 5 hits on average. So you're trading the plasma guns for one extra hit per game.

So if your plasma guns get you even one extra wound/damaging hit per game, you've made up for the loss of the twin-linking on the lascannon.

"But" everybody says, "you gotta sit still to shoot both weapons." I almost never shoot both weapons at the same time. I move 6" and shoot the weapon that will do better in the situation that I'm in.

The way it usually works in practice is that you shoot the lascannon in the early game, when things are far away and mostly it's vehicles you want to kill. Then in the mid/endgame when terminators and marines are close to your vehicles, you rapid-fire them with plasma (or just shoot them with a single plasma at range 13-24, since it wounds on a 2+, has the same AP as the lascannon, but is twinlinked). If it happens to be safe to sit still, then you can fire both weapons.

I like running two TL Las backs. I keep these back on my side to hold objectives and annoy enemy armor. I outflank with Baal's to really do damage, but this means my opponent has to try and play a guessing game with his armor facing.

My opponent has a lot of las/plas, but usually he misses with the las shot or is too far away to get the plasma shot. There is nothing worse than trying to get the drop on a soulgrinder that can only be seen by one vehicle and missing. Or the Landraider running down the flank. So if those lascannons are your only AV14 killing shots beyond 12", make them twin linked.

If you have Auto/Las preds everywhere, or lascannon long fangs, then get the additional heavy mech killing LC/TLPG versions.
