Scenario: Capture the Flag

Look at any multi-player FPS out there, chances are they have a Capture the Flag game type. Why not have one in 40k? Here is my proposal for Capture the Flag in 40K.

Table Set Up:
Place an objective marker in the center of each side of the table, 6 inches from the table edge. Objective must not be placed inside a ruin or building(difficult terrain is fine).

Scoring Units:
Only infantry units, which are troops choices may capture the flag (No bikes or jump infantry).
Example: An Ork Player uses Wazdakka Gutsmek to make Warbikers a troops choice. These Warbikers may not capture the flag.

Unit Deployment:
No unit may deploy within 12 inches of a flag(including infiltrators). The exception to this are units arriving from reserve(This includes out-flanking, and deep-striking)

Flag Bearing Units:
A unit which has control of an opponents flag, must nominate one model to be the flag bearer. The flag bearer sacrifices all ranged weaponry, but gains an additional close combat weapon. A unit which has control of the flag may embark within a transport.

Capturing the Flag
Each player may attempt to 'liberate' their opponents flag, and carry it to within 6 inches of their table edge. Players may still capture the flag if enemy units are within 3 inches. Doing this will grant the player one Capture Point. After each successful capture, the flag re-spawns at it's original location.
EXAMPLE: Player A's flag bearer ends his turn four with Player B's flag, within 6 inches of his/her own(Player A's) table edge. This gives Player A one Capture point, and immediately the flag re-spawns at it's original location on Player B's side.

Dropping the Flag:
At any point, if the flag bearer's unit is called upon to make a morale test, and fails they must drop(scatter) the flag within 1D3 inches of the Flag Bearer. This also applies to unit's who fail a pinning check, or intentionally go to ground.
EXAMPLE ONE: Player B comes under pinning fire from Player A. Player B fails his test, and must go to ground, dropping the flag within 3 inches, using the scatter die
EXAMPLE TWO: Player A loses the assault phase to Player B, then fails his/her morale check. Player A drops the flag within three inches using full scatter, then falls back following the rules for assaults in the 40K rulebook.

Returning the Flag:
If after your opponent drops the flag, you may attempt to return the flag to it's original location. To accomplish this you must control the flag until the end of your opponents next turn.
EXAMPLE: Player A drops player B's flag in the middle of the table during his/her turn three. Player B must posses the flag until the end Player A's turn four to return the flag.

Winning:
The player with the most Capture Points will be the winner.

Scenario: Capture the Flag

I like the idea, but I think you're heading for a draw fest. Chances of anyone getting 1 flag, nevermind more than one are pretty low.

A unit will have to travel 42" to get the flag and then 36" back. Few armies are going to be able to move that far in a 6 round game if there is an enemy on the table.

Also, how do you pick up the flag? Do you just stop within 3" of it and grab it in the movement phase?

I would say play it all or nothing. One capture, no do overs, no ties (or at least many fewer).
