I am a seasoned 40k veteran and I am looking to diversify into playing fantasy(sorry if this is in the wrong section!)

I was just wanting a quick summary of all the armies and how they play in their new rules as its been a good 8 years since I last even considered collecting.

I play Tau and Blood Angels in 40k so my styles are varied. I just wanna have fun(especially with the magic phase *insert evil cackle*)

Would anyone be able to PM or reply to the post giving me a nice summary of the armies, the main ones i am looking at are Orcs and Goblins(since they are new) or Empire(because of their huge guns!)

Empire is a very diverse army. They have cheap infantry with different weapon options (HW + shield, spears, halberds), decent, affordable knights, very good war machines, good magic support, very good magical items and a couple of unbreakable units (Flagellants, Steam Tank). The infantry on their own is fragile and certainly no killing machine but that's where the rest of the army comes in. The characters are moderately priced and offer good support in terms of leadership and a few kills. Warrior Priests add dispel dice and give their unit hatred - an Archlector and two WP can really shut down an opponents magic phase. With the Rod of Power, they can transfer a few dice to their magic phase and use them offensively. They also have a wide range of missile troops or options (archers, crossbows, handguns, repeater handguns, pistols), several of whom are core and can even be taken as detachments.

2x 40 Halberdiers with full command, 2x Mortars and 2x Great Cannon come to 790 points and make for a very solid core force that can deal with hordes and big gribblies. Add a General and BSB, a wizard or two and you're good to go. Add some Outriders or Greatswords or even core Flagellants and start boosting them to WS 10, I10 or T7 with scaly skin...

Dwarves arguably have better WM, Dark Elves have probably better missile units, Skaven and Gobbos have cheaper and better infantry, WOC and ogres are a lot tougher and killier, Elves are faster and Bretonnians, Vampires and Chaos have better cavalry, so Empire is a bit of a Jack of all trades. You don't have anything point-and-click-and-win, you need to use it as a combined force.
