				<description><![CDATA[ Used to be around in 2nd edition. The closest I know of in 5th is the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> demo charge. Frag grenades at Str4, small blast marker, something like 6-12" range (or maybe model <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>Str</span> x 2") would be cool.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ The problem with thrown grenades lies within the weapon itself. A grenade produces a blast, a frag grenade would likely be <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>Str</span> 4 and ap6, very quickly, every model with frag grenades can have an s4 ap6 blast at their disposal; a unit of 10 marines would be able to deal the same damage as 10 missile launchers firing frag missles in 1 shooting phase.<br /> <br /> Then you have kraks, specialised for use on vehicles. What would they do when thrown? S6 Ap3/4 blast?<br /> <br /> And then meltabombs, Str8 AP1 blast?<br /> <br /> That's just against infantry, what if you throw these grenades against vehicles?<br /> <br /> I think it's assumed that outside of an assault, units are out of range with their grenades (remember that the tabletop is far from the correct scale for a skirmish, so two units 1" apart could still represent metres away). If you really want grenades in assault, then have a unit that is assaulted take 1 automatic hit per model with assault grenades that is charging them, that wound on a 6+ with armour saves allowed.]]></description>

Comparing that to current ranges an AK or M16 is good to about 500meters on a steady shot or over 200 when firing rapidly.  <br /> Similarly pistols are rated at 12" mostly and todays pistols are good out to 100 meters.<br /> <br /> How far can you throw a grenade?  10 meters?  Its not a baseball, it weighs around 2kg. 				<description><![CDATA[ Grenades work alright the way they do now.<br /> <br /> I'd say both Krak and Melta are sticky bomb type weapons that don't really function well when thrown. They need to be placed onto a surface to explode. Assault grenades would be very weak, probably S2, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(6);'>AP</span>- range = 2xstrength<br /> <br /> They're pretty useless as a thrown weapon so best represented as the ability to avoid striking last when charging into cover. The real change that should be made, is making grenades rarer, so charging into cover without them is the norm rather than the exception.]]></description>

In a world where everyone's wearing high tech armour (or has really tough skin), I could see a small frag 'nade being little more than something to use to distract an opponent as you charge them.  An being a small, cheap grenade, it's going to be, well, cheap.  And readily available for everyone.]]></description>
