gunner swarm

I still have yet to start warmahordes. One of my hesitations is that you are shoehorned into playing certain combinations of models, and I have been having trouble finding sets of models that I like.

In any case I saw a list that involves only three types of models, and I happen to like them all.

35 pts.
Gorten
10 Gunners
4 Blasters

I am not familiar with the rules, but I think the concept of the list it to create so many different avenues of attack that your opponent cannot prevent the assassination of his caster. My question is, does this list still work now that there are jack casters? What are the weaknesses of this list? How would it play in different types of scenarios? Is it a one trick pony? (Are most warmahorde armies one trick ponies?)

Eh...

I'm a Cygnar player, so I'll always advocate combined arms.

The problem with this list is it's lack of melee and, of course, focus. Gorten only has 5 focus, two of which should be going to Solid Ground and Strength of Granite. That leaves only 3 focus left. Ideally, you want a mix of 2-3 gunners/blasters. Why? To take advantage of their Powerful Attack ability.

Any army that can field units with stealth will also wreck your list, as you'll have to be within 5 inches to hit stealth models, and your Gunners and Blasters are worthless in hand to hand.

Way too many jacks. Any speed army is going to lock you down fast and nothing you have is going to be hard to kill since they are all lights.

To be fair, Rhulic lights are an absolute pain in the ass to kill off due to their high armor, and the Blasters will shred stealth models rather nicely. The only issue is that locking them in melee will prevent them from shooting, leaving them with their rather abysmal melee attack. You'll also run into problems with Gorten's small control area, as you'll be stuck trying to keep 14 jacks within 10 inches of your Caster or they'll be almost entirely useless.

way to narrow of a list. alot of bad matchups here, windwall and flesh of clay come to mind, but other things such as stormwall would cut the range to almost half on all those gunners.

If I see this across the table, I'd probably just run eEiryss into the mob to prevent allocation for a turn and start working on the little guys. Once you've taken out Cortexes or Weapons, you can move onto the next one. Even with the good ARM for a light, you only need 1 system to make these things paperweights and thats not even counting the Focus problems this list has. Don't get me wrong, having a pair of them around mixed in with other threats the enemy has to prioritize isn't a bad idea, but by themselves, they just aren't good enough.
