				<description><![CDATA[ Hey there, forum! New poster and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> player here. I will be playing a fluffy Raven Guard and could use some advice about the direction of my army. I would like to field a well rounded army for now that will help me learn the game. any advice or criticism is greatly appreciated!<br /> <br /> Units already collected:<br /> <br /> <b><span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span>:</b><br /> Captain - 118 points<br /> +Lightning Claw<br /> +Storm Bolter<br /> notes: will probably be replacing him later on to better suit my army.. but is the only <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> i have <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(258);'>atm</span><br /> <br /> <b>Troops:</b><br /> Tactical Squad (10 man)- 200 points<br /> +Meltagun<br /> +Multi-Melta<br /> +Powerfist<br /> notes: tank busting squad. bad idea?<br /> <br /> Scout Squad (5 man)- 90 points<br /> +Sniper Rifle x 5<br /> +Camo Cloak x 5<br /> <br /> Units planning to collect:<br /> <b>Fast</b><br /> Assault Squad (5 man)- 110 points<br /> +Flamer<br /> notes: need help outfitting Sarge.. Power weapon? Make 10 man instead?<br /> <b>Heavy</b><br /> Devastator Squad (5 man) - 170 points<br /> +Missile Launcher x 3<br /> +Plasma Cannon<br /> +Heavy Bolter<br /> notes: many decisions to make here.. i figure missiles will give them versatility. Plasma cannons seem very effective from what ive seen. Heavy bolter seems like the only useful thing the Sgt can carry. i dont plan for this squad to see any close combat whatsoever<br /> <br /> Radical idea:<br /> <b>Elite</b><br /> Venerable Dreadnought - 255 points<br /> +Autocannon?<br /> +Extra Armor<br /> +Drop Pod<br />   +deathwind missile launcher<br />   +locator beacon<br /> <b>Troop</b><br /> Scout Squad (5 man) - 105 points<br /> +Combat Knives<br /> +Teleport Homer<br /> +Camo Cloaks<br /> Notes: Okay, so i thought it would be way kick ass to drop in a decked-out V.Dread with an armed drop-pod into a vital point of conflict, with the help of a scout squad beacon (not exactly sure how they work though).. Not sure if i want to make it a vehicle killer or heavy infantry killer. Can anyone see this plan working? 				<description><![CDATA[ Well your choices at 1000 are limited I have been playing a lot of my ravenguard lists sans shrike lately at 1000 and below still easy to be fluffy. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(20);'>CCW</span> scouts are very fluffy and effective for 75 points a pop, 90 if you give them combi-meltas and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(254);'>mb</span> which is a good idea, at letting you field 4-6 squads for the cost of 2 fully loaded <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(167);'>tac</span> squads and they're much more versatile and fluffy at the same time. IF you do decide to take tacticals the really only fluffy and same time competitive way to take them is drop pod. Assault marines are good in both 5 man squads and 10 depends on what you want them to be used for though as they will likely die at 5 man very fast. Give the sgts for Amarines powerfists as I believe a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(486);'>pw</span> is kind of pointless at only 10 less points you're losing <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>ID</span> attacks and tank stopping. A list I might make going off of what you listed is this.<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> - Captain - <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(457);'>JP</span>, LCx2 - 155<br /> <br /> Troop - Tactical x10 - <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span>, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(563);'>MG</span>, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(105);'>PF</span>, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(262);'>DP</span>, Locator Beacon - 245<br /> <br /> Troop - Scout Squad x5 - Combi-M, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(254);'>MB</span> - 90<br /> <br /> Troop - Scout Squad x5 - Combi-M, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(254);'>MB</span> - 90<br /> <br /> Elite - Venerable Dread - <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(331);'>PC</span>, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(336);'>HF</span>, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(571);'>DCCW</span>, EA, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(262);'>DP</span> - 235<br /> <br /> Heavy Support - Devastators x5 - PCx2, MLx2 - 170<br /> <br /> Can easily swap out the tacs for a Assault squad for the captain to roll with. For more competitive lists in the future good <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> choices are first Librarians and second Chaplains, Captains are a distant third. Assault terminators are awesome all around and still fit into <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(757);'>RG</span> fluff, or any fluff for that matter. Of course adding Shrike to any list is as fluffy as it gets for <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(757);'>RG</span> since he's our only non <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(39);'>FW</span> character. Also side note sgt in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(29);'>dev</span> squads can't take a heavy weapon even a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(51);'>HB</span> which would be awesome if he could <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(84);'>lol</span>.<br /> ]]></description>
