After have some minor success with my Combat Squad (2-5-1), and my first attempts at 40k battles I have begun the push to making my army a little stronger and would appreciate any form of CC from some of the more seasoned 40k generals.

Here is my first draft of a 1500pt list:

Captain (Artificer Armour, Storm Bolter and Power Fist) - I had real success with this build so far in a lot of friendly matches
+ Command (Standard, Champion, Meltagun, Razorback, Storm Bolter(x1)) - may swap this unit out for a Sternguard Veteran Squad?

Terminator Squad (Heavy Flamer)

Assault Squad (10) (Plasma Pistol x2, Power Sword, and Combat Shield) - I was thinking of splitting this unit into 2 Combat Squad in order to assist both the Terminators and Command Squad once the are into Close Combat.

Tactical Squad (10) (Rhino, Flamer, and Missile Launcher)

Tactical Squad (10) (Rhino, Flamer, and Missile Launcher)

Scout Squad (5) (Snipers, and Missile Launcher, Tellion-counts as) - holding objectives if any and lending support to whoever is in need (thin the heavy hitters)

Whirlwind - not sure about the effectiveness of this since I have never used or seen one in use but I was told it will help with my Imperial and Ork problems


After working out the points for this List their are 82pts left over which I thought of spending in two ways:

#1 - Land Speeder (Tornado Multi-Melta) and then add Melta Bombs to the Assault Sergeant and Captain.

#2 - Beefing up my two Tactical Squads with a Powerfist, Storm Bolter, and Meltagun on one squad and Powersword, Storm Bolter, Melta Bomb and Meltagun on the other.

Let me know what you guys think, I like the conversion I did on my Landspeeder base but so far it has been shot out of the sky in nearly every engagement thus far. (I'll crush those Lascannons if it's the last thing I do ........Muwahahaha!.....sorry)

I'm not a big fan of assault squads, but if you want to keep it, combat squading it is the way to go.
