Simple Green. Even if you buy it online it will still be the cheapest way.

Mix with 1 part water 1 part Simple Green concentrate. Leave models in overnight.

Clean with an old toothbrush.

I've stripped cars, warhammer 40k, and aircraft models with that stuff...

I used fairy power Spray on old squats and left them in it (possibly forgetting them....old age is infuriating) and it worked brilliantly and didn't damage the naff old plastic GW used to use.
