How are you having trouble? What tactics does he normally use? My DE have never had to much trouble against Eldar, Scatter lasers are the only thing I really ever fear. Have you thought of using a WWP? That opens up some sickening options, also duel ravagers is a must. By the looks of what you've posted about him I presume he loves his foot slogging, and to counter this, throw Wyches at him like crazy, 2 squads of Wyches backed up by a Kabalite squad with some other features (DUAL RAVAGERS!!! ) Incubi eat through anything which is always aweosme You will either want to go WWP or get some more raiders to go fully mech, foot DE never seem to last long

Those can't be the actual army lists. If they are, your friend is running three HQs and five heavy support choices. Also, almost twice as many points as you are.

Your problems:
You're using mandrakes. Don't. The models are great, but the unit is tragically not.

You have too few raiders. Mech everything up, run circles around footsloggers.

You have too few ravagers. Doesn't matter much against footsloggers, though you could outfit them with disintegrators and chew up his aspect warriors at range.

You're fielding too few reavers for them to work right. Six is the ideal number, but they're still not great even then.

You're fielding both an Archon and a Succubus. Succubi are cheap alternatives to an Archon, you'd be better off outfitting the Archon better, or outfitting Hekatrices/Sybarites/Dracons better than taking both.

What's in the Archon Court? They can be awesome melee troops when you spam Sslyth and Ur-ghuls (though you still have to take a Lhamaean and a Medusae)

Working only with what you've got, I'd suggest you take the Archon (give him a WWP) with 9 Incubi in the raider.
Leave the Court, Mandrakes and probably the Subcubus at home. Then its just a matter of rushing everything (except the ravager ofc) out of the portal. The only real trouble I can see is taking on the Wraithlord. You'll have to dedicate your raider and ravager to briniging it down as most of your army cannot hurt it!

If you're looking at adding to the army I'd get 3 more reavers, 1 or 2 more ravagers and then as many raiders as is physically possible

I'd split your trueborn squads into two squads of 5. I'd give them 3 blasters and 2 splinter cannons each. This should add a significant amount of fire power to your base. Assuming you do not wish to purchase any more things for your army, I'd suggest using a WWP for this list.

Just dont charge him. Same goes for his Avatar if he regularly uses one.

I agree with the other posters in that you are very light on transport for a DE list tho which makes you far too slow getting where you need to be or away from where you dont want to be.

Dark Eldar vs Eldar help!

It really depends a lot how you equip your warriors and trueborn. Eldar dont have many special weapon choices or too many wargear options of units. DE do and taking blasters, splinter cannons and dark lances at the right time is important. Its also crucial to have agonizers or venom blades in the right place but not where they are just a waste of points.

As has been said, more vehicles would be nice.

A webway portal would be nice

If you are going to be on foot, a unit of beastmasters and beasts would be nice (although either convert it or be prepared to spend a lot of money)

Dont use mandrades, just dont. If you want to use the models I would paint them up a little different and call them harliquins or something. Just NEVER use mandrades.
EDIT: NEVER USE MANDRAKES, if you want to win. If you dont care about winning, feel free to take them.

Re:Dark Eldar vs Eldar help!

All very good advice in here.

In my experience, what will help you the most is putting each unit in a Raider. Shoot his assault guys and assault his shooty guys. Also, take 2, or even 3 Ravagers depending on the point value you're playing at. I like to give all my Ravagers Dark Lances and Raiders Disintegrator Cannons.

I know that all those vehicles will hurt your wallet more than your opponent. If he's ok with it, and they place you play at isn't going to throw a fit over "counts as" models, make a few raiders out of paper!

Yes, it sounds strange, but before my DE army was fleshed out with models, my raiders were 2 pieces of cardstock on a flying base. The first was cut to form the footprint, the second cut to be the silhouette. Tape them together onto a flying base and you have yourself a Raider! If I remember, I'll submit some pictures when I get home from work.

Good Luck!

Dark Eldar vs Eldar help!

only thing i noticed was as mentioned, he has too many hq and hev support. that and his points seem huge. make him provide a actual army list, with force org selections. and as stated, mech up or portal in.

his avatar/wraithlord die to poison, and trueborn with carbines and cannons with the duke can make mincemeat of them. some venoms with dual cannons also work awsome.

incubi will be decent for chopping up aspect warriors like scoropions, but use wychs on banshees. (banshess will probally strike first and your shardnets/dodge should help negate most banshee abilitys).

id also suggest ravagers, or if you have a way of modelling them, a pair of voidravens. if hes foot slogging it, the aircraft missles will take them apart, and any mech will meet your str 9 void lance.

if your using bikes, id take at least 9, and grab heat lances, cluster caltrops and perhaps a grav talon. bikes imho are best when used in large groups, and kitted up. otherwise they die fast. (they still might, but the 3+ invun from turboboost should help them live a little while anyway - or absoarb a whole army round of shooting) but bikes are an iffy unit and i would test them out via proxxy or using older jetbikes untill you decide you like them, as youll need 3 boxes to make 9.

Dark Eldar vs Eldar help!

Interesting read all in all.

Im about to write a 1.5k list against eldar for tomorrow and it has to capacitate fighting rival DE too.

I intend to take the sorts of things that will throw out lots of weak hits in combat and in shooting because they should all be T3.

Everything in the DE army can take down a wraithlord. If our opponents have any sense theyl not take them!

Im gonna try out using some scourges tomorrow just because Ive knocked some up, not necessarily for any tactical advantage, but as much as dual ravagers and tripple ravagers and 10 ravagers and 500 dark lances are important, you can get lots of blast weaponary from other places, and the dice gods spit in my lunchbox everytime I shoot with them, but saying that I am getting my 2nd one on wednesday!

I tried the archon court once and it didnt work well at all. Might try it again sometime now Ive made myself the models and see how it goes, but as has been said, cram your points into lots of standard chaps with fancy weaponary and concentrate on your tactics.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just to add,

That shouldnt sound 'bam slam, there it is, simple as that'. Theres obviously infinite ways to play these games, and your own way will always be your favourite way, but as your looking for advice, thats my opinion.

(partially based on advice ive picked up along the way too!)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
And yes, vehicles are crucial. I use 3 raiders and 2 venoms and I still want more!

Definately have to have some foot sloggers tho. I take groups of 15 warriors normally.

Dark Eldar vs Eldar help!

Had that game today. I won!!

It went really bad because it was spearhead and I got left with 1 bastion as scenery and nothing else, so I chose to keep everything in reserve except scourges, a venom of warriors and 10 warriors (who went in the bastion with the objective).

Basically, I was really thrown off, kept rolling terribly, magaged to do a bit of damage and not too much was done against me, but the terrain was so much in the enemys favour. He had a fire prism up on a landing pad with dark reapers and pathfinders and a squad of guardians in a ruin.

I took 6 reavers with a cluster who zoomed over the fire dragons and killed them all including a farseer. The scourges missed and died. Mostly transports for things. Sliscus in a venom with trueborn and all that jazz. Ended up getting the warriors 40 inches up the board, and moved the wyches in just in time with lady malys and charged the guardians, killing them all and taking their point, after mine had been taken by banshee's that did nothing because elites cant take points. So I scraped a win with great difficulty. I would have twiddled my list a bit to include more worth while things like squad leaders! Never leaving them out again, but I'll not get into too much more detail.

Lady malys worked well against the eldar, not being able to be doomed and suchlike. I put my reavers right in the middle on the edge of area terrain where my opponent was going to put his pathfinders so he couldnt, then I put them back in reserve haha. Craftyness!

Main piece of advice; get in quick but you still need to crack tanks open before you get the juicey innards, (tho that goes more for mech-guard), and if his tanks have energy fields, blast them in the rear and he wont get them! (for use of heat lance and things).
