I'm not certain what the characters will be doing. I agree your hero's need mounts of some kind- there's no real unit for them to join.

It can definitely work, but your list could use some tweaks to make it stronger / more theme-y

I would drop the runesword exalted entirely, mount both the BSB and sorcerer on discs and invest in 3+ / 4+ wards for both of them. I would also consider dropping your sorcerer to a level 1 with third eye of tizz, as the only spells he's casting will be with IF, so might as well either roll up gateway and slam 6 dice into that, or steal something big from the other dude and IF that one. And then, profit.

Combining these into 2x 8 or 10 would be preferable, IMO, but maybe 6 works out fine? Fewer units means fewer stupidities, more killing power, more points denial, etc.

Great weapons benefit the unit a little better - second rank gets the +2S, vs getting nothing with ahw - and add some more oomph to the army, but maybe you've got modeling things in mind? If points are tight, maybe one of each? Also, where are your musicians?!?!?!

I definitely agree with units of 8-10 over units of 6. Size really matters in 8th, and with six, if you take any losses you just can't hang...

And the shaggoth Needs AHW! He has decent initiative, but the ogres with I2 might as well go GWs and be sure to dish out wounds when they hit. Makes them pretty scary, from what I've seen.
