Most cost-efficient way to ship bits?

Hello dakka,

Every once in a while I go ebay some random bits I have laying around here.

My question is what is the most cost-efficient way to ship these things? I like the idea of flat rate envelopes and such but I don't know if my customers would like paying for the cost.

I've used just plain ol letter envelopes with a stamp a couple times but there is no way to protect myself from getting scammed.

Any ideas? How do people around here do it?
