Help with Army Painter Spray Can.

I think I had a similar problem. Had to report it to The War Store and I'm hoping it wasn't my own stupidity. However,t hey were extremely good about it, replaced it without problem, and are highly recommended as always.

I got a can in and also couldn't open it. For the replacement can, I used some cutters to carefully remove part of one of the plastic tabs at the bottom of the cap. This allowed me to open it, but I had to carefully cut through about a quarter inch of cap.

For the first can, I got it off with a screwdriver, but it took the spray nozzle with it! The nozzle had some bent/missing plastic on it and I managed to put it in and make it work, but I had a feeling it would cause problems. It did, as I managed to spray myself in the face a little bit with that can...

So, anyway, my way was to use some clippers to cut one of the tabs off.Don't just try to pry it with a screwdriver.

Help with Army Painter Spray Can.

for removing the cap, I found that the label is usually overlapped on the cap, so some careful cutting is required and a quick clip with the sprue cutters to the tab on the side gets it open.

for spraying, make sure that you are using long steady bursts in a side to side sweeping motion and not too close to the model. the videos on the website are helpful if you have problems. Make sure when you are done you clear the nozzle by holding it upside down and spraying till its clear.

Hope this helps.

I ended up taking the bad can and warping it in a plastic abg before throwing it out...
Help with Army Painter Spray Can.

@Titanbravo Thanks mate that really helps. Just got done spraying some testers and after the first monstrosity it actually turned out really nice even over a previously primed black model (being that the colour in question is yellow I think thats pretty damn good) so I'm pretty happy. Personally I'd recommend them. Gives a really nice matt finish that looks pretty damn fine.

Help with Army Painter Spray Can.

I've had the same problem with the caps. I just squeezed the lid and muscled it off.

Army Painter is spray primer in various colours, no need to spray black first unless you want a darker tone, but be warned that most of the colours are fairly weak while the primer component if fairly thick, so it's easy to overdo it.

My experience with Daemonic yellow has been hit and miss. You need to shake hard for at least 2 mins then spray in multiple thin coats.

I've since moved on to a $50 airbrush and $50 compressor with tank that is doing a much better job (works out to less than 5 cans of Army Painter)

Help with Army Painter Spray Can.

Warflake wrote:While I'm on the subject as I've just got it spraying and I was wondering if anyone has done it over black. Because I just did and it didnt turn out so well?

I've used up probably 3 dozen cans of various army painter colors at this point. Some random comments:

-Primer, not spraypaint. Goes on dense. Don't use it like GW primer, keep moving the can across the miniatures as you spray, similar to working with an airbrush. Don't linger in one spot.

-You can get some good effects spraying with black first, then light coats at oblique angles with the army painter spray. Or use a light and dark color of army painter.

-Lids have been tight lately. Prying with a screwdriver seems to work poorly vs sniping the edge of the plastic, or just pulling and twisting strongly. I general just pull them off, then snip the edge so it goes back on easily.

-Desert yellow covers well. Demonic yellow is a bit thin. I use GW white primer before I hit things with demonic yellow.
