Please help me find the name of a much loved childhood toy series

Ok, for the past few months, ive had vivid memories of one of my old, childhood toys, but i am struggling to find out what they actaully were. they may have been only in my country, but i doubt that.

Essentailly, they were a Fully modular and cross compatible toy series. They were sci-fi (they MAY have been set in a post-apocalyptic world, thinking about the aesthetic that is very possible) tanks or cars, i remember they could be motorized, and you could build so many things about them.

SOmeone pointed me towards a toy series called "Zoids" which apear to be similar, but not what im looking for.

Over here, they have been taken off the market. i cant find them anymore.

And its not anything to do with lego or mechano, i remember that for sure.

If anyone can tell me what they were, id appreciate it greatly

Hehe, I had a similar thread on another forum ages ago whilst trying to recall them. God bless google is all I can say, the number of variations and probable key words I went through to track em down was crazy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robotix

Do you remember one episode where they "killed" one of the robotix in a gang fight or something, it was actually really dark, that scene stayed with me for literally years.

They were not humaniod robots, they were vehicles like cars and such. the connector was basically a black circle, with small cirlce inside it. Half the circle was a cut out section, and the other half was a sort of out jutting piece that slotted into the other side of it.

does that help at all?
