Ogyrn flesh wash on chainmail?

Can anyone show me what ogyrn flesh wash looks like on chainmail? I think I'm going to use chainmail for my Grey Knights but not sure which wash. Badab black and devlan mud are pretty much out the window as makes them look dirty and not a look I am going for. I have thought sepia maybe which will give their armour a slightly tinge to it. In fact any pictures of chainmail with any wash would be nice too!

Thanks.

Ogryn flesh looks horrible on chainmail in my opinion dude.

I know its a completely different model but on my dwarf warriors armour I used boltgun metal, badab black wash, chainmail heavy drybrush and mithril silver light drybrush. It looked pretty good, not too dirty looking either.

its a different color, but sort of.

over gunmetal it sort of leaves the sheen and darkens the grey, after that I use another much darker brown ink so that the model looks like he bathes in machine oil (it is admech after all)

I used dip for a while too but brown ink is the way to go IMHO.

if i remember right, this model used just ogryn over the shield part (over gunmetal)
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/167071-mechanicus%20priest.html

while my old sentinals used just dip/wood stain (painted on, not dipped that is stupid) overtop the gunmetal for their legs (bad pic)
http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/114776-Sent%20Squad%201.html

its really an aquired thing, for many models it will look bad but for a geasy/steampunky look I think it works great.

when i was experimenting I had to go with a very dark brown finish, once it starts to tint the gunmetal it looks great, before that it looks like TRASH.

Re:Ogyrn flesh wash on chainmail?

ok, heres the issue. your trying to use a brown tone to try and wash metal without making it dirty. the only reason there would be brown on metal is if it was dirty. to make it clean you need to use black or maybe blue. if your black wash is making it too dirty thin it down more.

I know you want to do this the quick way, but the best way to do what your trying to do is chainmail/black wash/chainmail highlights. spend the extra 2 min per model and i promise you will be happy.

Re:Ogyrn flesh wash on chainmail?

What I have seen on it makes it look dirty or rusty. My favorite thing to do is use the blue wash. If you do it light enough so there is only a lot in the recesses, it looks pretty nice. Sure you will get a bit of a blue tinge to the metal, but that seems somewhat natural to me.
Here is an example of it on the metal parts of the wings...
http://www.dakkadakka.com/core/gallery-viewimage.jsp?i=204167
Mine is a little heavier than you probably would want, but it gives an idea.
