If you want your UM to be a bit darker of a blue, I'd wash/ink a Regal basecoat for deep shade, go back with Regal covering all but the shadows, do block highlights with UM Blue, then extreme highlights with UM Blue, lightened to taste (a lighter blue, like Ice or Enchanted, will give less of the powdery/pastel look you seem to want to avoid than using white).]]> http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/357632/2628864.page http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/preList/357632/2628864.page GMT
Now that I have an airbrush, I've started airbrushing a 4:1 mix of UM blue and shadow blue (a vallejo color similar to mordian). Then continue as before with washing blue and so on. The blue wash will nicely darken the blue to a pleasing shade.
