Does this method work for painting Ultramarines?

So far for Ultramarines my method is to prime black, do a base coat of Regal Blue, followed by a layer of Ultramarines Blue, and finally another layer of Regal Blue. I was browsing through several pages to try to get my Ultramarines to be a shade of blue that I was happy with and came across this: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/content/article.jsp?aId=2500037 so I guess my question is, does this really work? Or would the simple drybrush of only Ultramarines blue come off as an almost sky blue colored marine? Am going to probably try this at some point, but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this so far. Thanks for any info.

I first basecoat with Ultramarines blue, then wash the whole thing with Blue Ink. Layer Regal blue on it, then highlight it with Ultramarines blue, and then a 2:1 mix with Ultramarines blue and Skull white.

I think Ultramarine Blue is a perfect mid-tone for... well, Ultramarine blue. If drybrushing on a light-ish base the effect might seem a bit pastel and powdery, but painted over Regal Blue or drybrushed evenly over black, it shouldn't be anywhere near sky blue.

If you want your UM to be a bit darker of a blue, I'd wash/ink a Regal basecoat for deep shade, go back with Regal covering all but the shadows, do block highlights with UM Blue, then extreme highlights with UM Blue, lightened to taste (a lighter blue, like Ice or Enchanted, will give less of the powdery/pastel look you seem to want to avoid than using white).

My traditional method has been to basecoat mordian blue, then paint UM blue (leaving mordian in the recesses), then blue wash, drybrush UM blue, drybrush shadow grey, line highlight spacewolf grey/UM 50:50.

Now that I have an airbrush, I've started airbrushing a 4:1 mix of UM blue and shadow blue (a vallejo color similar to mordian). Then continue as before with washing blue and so on. The blue wash will nicely darken the blue to a pleasing shade.

Here is WIP shot of a librarian I did using the airbrush basecoat. The Sternguard in the background used my original method:
