Grey Knight list: 750-1000-1500-2000 Points

Yet again, I throw another GK list out into the sea of Dakkanauts, hoping to bait some on my meaty post.

Anyway, onto the point: This list is designed to be competetive and have as large a model count as possible whilst keeping more-or-less to the theme of the force. It's also another attempt at planning out my GK force.

HQ: 251 Points

Castellan Crowe: 150 Points

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor: 101 Points
- Force Weapon
- Psychic Mastery Level 1 and Hammerhand
- Meltabombs
- Psychostroke Grenades
- Rad Grenades
- Power armor
- Servo-Skull

Elites: 0 Points

Troops: 498 Points

Purifiers: 239 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Purifiers: 259 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- all with Psybolt ammunition
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Fast Attack: 0 Points

Heavy Support: 0 Points

Total: 749 Points

Twelve models [and two vehicles], including two HQs at 750 Points. An unusual set-up, I know, but I reckon that it should balance out. I've got my AT in the form of Hammers and Asscannons, plenty of CC from the PAGK and the Inquisitor buff who is actually decent in an assault. I'd put him with the Purifiers to make a mini death-star unit, especially if they both charge the same unit. Crowe will just run around trying to find things to kill, and hopefully a stray Lascannon won't find its mark.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Onto the second list, at 1k.

HQ: 257 Points

Castellan Crowe: 150 Points

Ordo Xenos Inquisitor: 107 Points
- Force Weapon
- Psychic Mastery Level 1 and Hammerhand
- Meltabombs
- Psychostroke Grenades
- Rad Grenades
- Power armor
- 3 Servo-Skulls

Elites: 0 Points

Troops: 743 Points

Purifiers: 239 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Purifiers: 239 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Terminators: 265 Points
- 4 Terminators
- Justicar with a Master-crafted Daemonhammer
- 1 Psycannon
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- 2 Pairs of Nemesis Falchions

Fast Attack: 0 Points

Heavy Support: 0 Points

Total: 1000 Points

Servo-skulls on the Inquisitor are to give my Terminators an easy time of Deep-Striking, had to drop the Psybolt ammunition from one Purifier squad - no real loss.

----------------------------------------------------------------

List #3, at 1.5k.

HQ: 365 Points

Castellan Crowe: 150 Points

Grey Knight Grand Master: 215 points
- Storm Bolter
- Master-Crafted Nemesis Force Sword
- Meltabombs
- Psychostroke Grenades
- Rad Grenades

Elites: 0 Points

Troops: 743 Points

Purifiers: 239 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Purifiers: 239 Points
- 4 Purifiers
- 2 Psycannons
- 2 Nemesis Force Halberds
- 1 Knight of the Flame with Master-Crafted Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- Razorback with Assault cannon and Psybolt ammunition

Terminators: 265 Points
- 4 Terminators
- Justicar with a Master-crafted Daemonhammer
- 1 Psycannon
- 1 Nemesis Daemon Hammer
- 2 Pairs of Nemesis Falchions

Fast Attack: 0 Points

Heavy Support: 390 Points

Dreadnought: 135 points
- two Twin-linked Autocannons
- Psybolt ammunition

Land Raider Redeemer: 255 points
- Multi-Melta

Total: 1498 Points

So, when we reach this points level, I'm dropping the Inquisitor in favor of a GKGM. He jumps in the LRR with the Terminators - the tactics here are obvious. He will also make the Dreadnought scoring with Grand Strategy, allowing it to sit back on objectives. Otherwise, in Annihilation, I'll just give Counter-Attack to some other unit. Model count: 17 Infantry, 3 Vehicles, 1 Walker = 9 Kill Points. Gonna have to play real careful with my fragile units and watch out for plasma/melta. IG will really present problems for this list; though I don't expect to face any, unless I happen to go to a GW (which I never do.. dreadful places). FYI, Orks, Marines and Necrons are the only opponents I'll ever really face, so shouldn't have too many problems against any of them. NFW's will eat through Meq and Cleansing Flame will destroy Orks.

As for 2k, not too sure what to add other than perhaps more Purifier spam units; which would mean 10 more PAGK. Could add another Psyfleman instead. Vindicare and Techmarine with OSR are both interesting investments.

Maybe, for the 1k and 1.5k lists, I should drop the Terminators and GKGM, and just add more Purifier units to get my body count up? Then add the Terminators/GKGM at 2k instead? Of course this would probably mean my merry little Inquisitor would still be removed from the list to get more points for Purifiers.

What do you all think? Thanks for reading my long posts, and double-thanks if any of you actually go through this entire thing in detail.

Grey Knight list: 750-1000-1500-2000 Points

In the first you are REALLY light on bodies. I'd dump the Razorbacks down to Rhinos and drop the Inquisitor this should give you room for a 3rd purifier squad. THat would give you far more bodies and no loss of firepower (actually a slight ncreas and the ability to pillbox).

At 1k I odn't really understaand wht the terminators are giivng you that another squad of Purifiers couldn't do better. I'd serious consider dropping them and again concentrating on Purifiers. Diversifying at that points level isn't a great idea.

If you really want the terminators you don't need 2 Hammers in the squad. Likewise in all cases I wouldn't bother putting the hammer on the Justicar/KotF as you can lose it to a perils as you'll still get base 2 attacks with it from your normal guys. Also never take the sword on the Terminators the +1 invunerable save is almost never a better defensive option than the Halberd. Saving 1 in 6 more success power weapon wounds is not as good as not receiving those power weapon attacks because you've killed the enemy before he's struck.

For the final list you'ree still very low on body count. However there are more efficient things you can take utilising the same core units.

The dread needs to be doubled or dropped. They are awesome but at this point level your opponent wil have too much ranged AT for the Dread to do its job without better target saturation.

The Redeemer needs Psybolt ammo. Making that Asscan into a Psycannon makes a huge difference to how effective it is against tanks.

As for the GM + Terminators combo a Libby in general works far better. Since the Dread is the only thing in your army that isn't scoring you don't really need GS. So why not just make that unit as powerful as possible? Go with falchions on all the Terminators and a Psycannon (no DH required). Take a wardingstave on the Libby (just to keep him alive) and give him the powers: Sanctuary, Shrouding, Quicksilver, Might of Titan.

Now that unit moves forwards pops smoke and your Landraider has a 3+ coversave. Then when you pile out your guys get 5 S6 forceweapon attacks each at I10 and doing 2d6 Armour pen. That unit will wreck anything it touches. Try to consolidate into cover and use Shrouding and Sanctuary to prrotect you from reprisails before going again.

Sorry to barge in here and I know this sounds a bit noobish but where exactly are Paladins useful. From what I can gather they are great if you are playing folk in small games at gamesworkshop but in real games where do you use them and how could you fit them in? Are they even worth the points when you are playing 750pts games or are you better to just ignore terminator armour all together and just go for the power armoured grey knights?

That sounds pretty good. I know that a sqaud of assault terminators in a land raider can kill a whole carnifex brood so when you make them all instant death and have 2 wounds that could be pretty overkill. I could just field one of the paladins as a grand master and have four regular and have the rest of my army as PAGK. another thing i was looking at was a purgation squad in a Chimera. I know i can't have it as a dedicated transport but if i feild them both i can put them in the chimera first turn and shoot the whole squad out of it cause it has 4 or 5 fire points. That will also protect my Psycannons while they dish out some heavy punishment. I would just have to watch out for Lascannons. i am thinking Halberds for the force weapons on the Paladins so i can strike first (most of the time). In a game against Daemons a sqaud of 15-20 Bloodletters managed to slaughter my paladins cause of furious charge. they struck first and got tonnes of power attacks so i just never got to attack. Unfortunate but that sort of thing happens from time to time. I should also give one a Warding Stave...

I'm starting up a GK list as well. I agree with earlier posts on the way you armed your razorbacks. First I don't see much need for taking them in the smaller lists because it's just not enough armor. Second for the same price you could take a LC plasma or TL LC with psybolt - That makes you have a st 10 LC and a S8 plasma- That's actually pretty scary.

I also would never take an inquisitor unless I wanted to take henchmen - which if you look at them are extremely under pointed and several options will just rape face. However a Librarian and GM or 2x Librarian is the better way to run if you aren't taking henchmen - At low points just take the Libi.

I'm convinced also the only way to take purifiers is in a Land Raider w/ Libi w/ quicksilver and might of Titan and you prolly should arm them with falchions. At lower points you are better of just taking Terminators - First they are troops - Second they have 2+ save and an Inv save - Third they move and still get 4 shots with psycannons - They Deep Strike so they don't need a vehicle.

What we could do is take a purgation squad and a chimera feild them next to each other and put the purgers in the chimera. Four or five can fire as I have said before and if they have psybolt ammunition you can turn that chimera into a rolling death machine and standard infantry (usually) cant hurt it. i.e: most weapons are about streangth 3 or 4 so unless they are hitting side or rear you cant actually do anything and even if you do you will be glancing on a 6. Obviously you will have to look out for stray lascannon shots. what are the rules if you are inside a vehicle when it gets wrecked or explodes? I never bothered to look cause I never thought about vehicles before when playing with nids or grey knights.
