Demons Troops

I assume this means "which ones do you prefer/play with/think are the best." Pick which one you want. Personally, I combined all of the above-I run a mix for my troops. Don't forget to add nurglings in there too-they're also troops. Nurglings are not good for much, unless you want to run a horde of big monsters (greater daemons, daemon princes) and need troop filler in low point games. Daemonettes are great against eldar of any kind, as well as IG, tau, basic nids...anything troop except space marines really. Bloodletters rip everything apart in CC and plaguebearers are the best objective holders in the game. I challenge anyone to disagree with that-T5, FNP, invul save, fearless. Good luck shooting them off of it. Horrors do nothing for me. I have thirty of the pink bastards and I don't find them overly useful at all. Actually, the only worthwhile Tzeentch guy I find is Kairos. Every other tzeentch model is worthless.

edit-except flamers. They're amazing too

A solid block of bloodletters or daemonettes can be as scary as a monstrous creatures- a block of bloodletters (10+) will probably kill more models than the big monsters. That doesn't mean I want 10+ bloodletters on an objective- I want a group of plague bearers sitting there. My least favorite of the lot is horrors though-their shooting is alright vs non MEQ armies, but 17ppm, you don't get too much real value out of them.

Is this thread even close to a tactical discussion? Is there a specific aspect of Daemon Troops you want to discuss? This seems to be more along the lines of a 'Which do you like best lolz!' poll thread that seem to be springing up with unerring regularity these days....

In short: Ask a question. Don't just post a poll and expect people to fill the void with amazing tactical insight.

L. Wrex

P.S. For the record I voted for Bloodletters

EDIT: And this was my 1000th post as well =(

Re:Demons Troops

As an Ork player, I love it when I see Daemonettes across the field from me. Sure, they'll atack first, but what doesn't? I see T3 and a 5+ invul, I start getting all excited about how I'll only need 7 or so Boyz left alive to wipe them. Yeah, they're Fleet, but my transports give me a 21" charge range. Go ahead and drop in 18" away.

The only Slannesh that I ever really consider a threat is Fiends.

As for Bloodletters, they're slow, expensive, and their power weapons mean nothing to me. I'll just drive around them, and charge them with multiple squads when I'm ready to engage.

Plaguebearers love beign shot at, but as a close combat army, I'll beat them through attrition.

Horrors, though, Horrors live up to their name. Bolts take out my vehicles like crazy, with their AP1. And Warpfire will tear apart a squad of Boyz with shooting. Granted, once I charge them it's GG, but MSU Horror lists are really the only Daemon troops I fear.

I think, though, that my Orks just match up well, overall, against Daemons.

In a take-all-comers list, if I played Daemons, I'd never bring anything other than a 2 small units of Plaguebearers with Icons for objectives/icon coverage, and 1 or 2 MSU of Horrors for extra Bolts and the Changeling. Daemons' power are in their Elites, HQ's, and Heavy Support. If you're substantially investing in troops, then, well, you're doing it wrong.

Demons Troops

I run 1 squad of BL, 1 of Horrors , and 1 of Daemonettes. The list is more of less made so I can have a variety of things to play with, plus to have a mix of chaos color on the table. Thought I'll admit doing this usually makes games tougher to win, but I find the table top presence appealing and fun.
