Void Dragon

So, we all know the Void Dragon is hinted to be on Mars. It would be quite a coincidence for the Void Dragon to not be the Omnissiah, right? My opinion is that for GW to come out with more fluff for the Necrons, they're going to need to work around this. What are your ideas for GW to solve this? Whats the best loophole you can think of?

Void Dragon

From Mechanicum (and I may be misremembering), it's stated/implied that:

Spoiler:

- The Emperor fought the Void Dragon, won, and put it on Mars.
- He did this so the humans who were/would be there would become tech-reverent and create lots of useful stuff.
- In the past, the Emperor created the prophecy of the Omnissiah's arrival, just so he could later arrive on Mars and forge an alliance with the Mechanicum (and so make use of their resources)
- So, the Emperor is the Omnissiah, although the Void Dragon is the real machine god.

The Void Dragon on Mars, isn't quite asleep and enters the consciousness of mankind in various ways pushing them down certain paths by way of technological hints spuring advancements. This has been going on since mankind first set foot on Mars.

It is also probably why the Mechanicus are becoming much more mechanical in nature and why they seek union with machines. This is something only the most senior Mechanicus suspect. Perhaps they will, one day, resemble the Necrons if left unchecked.

The Emperor may have used the Void Dragon to stimulate mankinds technological advancement and so it's no suprise that Mars is and always has been the seat of technical expertise.

I know I read this stuff somewhere.

I once saw an interesting argument that the Omnissiah is actually Vaul, though I can't recall the specifics. It has a nicer sound to it than "the magical space vampire that went into hibernation millions of years prior and rules over the remnants of a Tau-like (short-lived blanks) race that literally emoed themselves into terminators was imprisoned a few thousand years ago for some reason", though sadly it's almost certain to be the Void Dragon.

I've always been a fan of Necrons, and I would love to see the storyline of the Dragon advance (or at least the Outsider).

However, here's probably the more probable path of the Void Dragon fluff. Either:

A) Games Workshop drops the fluff entirely because they will think it's too much work for a xenos army. Instead, they'll just write a new codex for Space Marines or Imperial Guard.

B) They leave the fluff where it is at because they get too scared or lazy to add to it (or they do try, everybody gets ticked off and hates it THEN Games Workshop gives up on it). Plus, they cannot really advance the Void Dragon fluff in the current year because then an armaggeddon scenario will take place and we all know that just can't happen (sadface....)

or C) Ward gets a hold of the fluff. Then we will have Chaos Necrons, C'Tan popping up all over the place like they were Necron Warriors waking up, friendly Scarabs made into pets for Orks to replace Grots, and Blood Angels becoming closer friends with the Necrons to the point that they become Necrons themselves.

Gentlemen, the Void Dragon as we know it will be no more once the new Necron codex comes out. He will either be gone, dead, or completely ed up.

And just to let you all know....... I'm not being serious about this. Please do not come after me, set me on fire, or shoot me with gauss flayers. I've already been shot by one. It's not a pleasany feeling. It kinda hurts...

It has even succeeded in locating the potent Talismen of Vaul, the great weapons forged by the Eldar before the Fall to destroy the C'tan if they rose again.

Through subtle machinations, the Deceiver has destroyed most of these awesome devices and placed the remainder beyond the reach of the Farseers for all time. The war that was provoked to achieve this ravaged an entire sector in a fashion unseen since the War in Heaven. That such limitless suffering has been caused is as nothing to the Deceiver; it would have destroyed the Gothic sector a thousand times over to achieve its goals. In recent times the Deceiver has reluctantly concluded that it needs the other star-gods if they are to reassert their rule once more. The legacy of the Old Ones is gnawing at the very fabric of reality, and their old slave races need to be brought to heel."
