Looking for a quick and easy method of painting white

The obvious point is that you want to do shading to pick out the detail of the folds and so on, and you can’t shade pure white. You need to paint the figures a pale something else, then shade it to pure white. Good choices would be grey, blue, yellow and green.

What I would do is prime the models white, spray them a pale colour, wash them a slightly darker hue, then dry-brush with white. I would do a trial model first, to get the techniques.

I might use different colours for different regiments, or mix them up a bit throughout the force.

Re:Looking for a quick and easy method of painting white

Well the method i use takes more than three steps but i've shortened it and, heres what you can do:
1. Paint white areas with Astronimican Grey
2. Mix 50/50 astronomican grey and skull white and paint
3. Mix 30/70 astronomican grey and skull white and paint
4. Highlight with skull white

Yeh it's one step more, but it's quite quick and works well when you're batch painting.

Looking for a quick and easy method of painting white

Thanks for the input guys I usually paint over a black primer so farseers method might be worth a try.

Next question is the shields I want the whole mass of gleaming white shields thing but except for extreme highlights Ive read that using a pure white is a no no. So what do I do go for a slighty off white?
