Gold Layering/Glazing

I have just ordered the sanguinor and I have been wondering how I am going to paint him, as gold is a pain to work with imo.

Basically I have been looking at a lot of NMM painting guides for sanguinor and I was wondering if the same grading technique woud work with metallic colours like gold as I am keen to field a big shiny nipple-angel rather than a NMM version of it. any advice would be great, thanks.

If you have an airbrush, try the 'Pale Gold' here:

http://www.alclad2.com/finishes/finishes.html

Hit it with a gloss coat after you are done painting it and it looks amazing. I did all of my sanguinary guard, Dante, and my veterans helmets with it and its amazing. Alclad II makes metallic paints for specifically for an airbrush, and they are good at what they do. Prime the models with a gloss black prior to airbrushing.

Ghidorah wrote:Pics or it isn't "amazing".

The problem with metallics is that they dont photograph really well for non-professionals like me. Im a painter not a photographer. But here are the pictures anyways.

Excellent work. They look really good in the pics, even the blurrier close-ups. I certainly see them looking "amazing" in the flesh. Well played, sir. Well played and well done.

Ghidorah

Re:Gold Layering/Glazing

Great, thanks, that seems suitably shiny for all intents and purposes, will no doubt have a play with it at some point. One question though, any idea if it will strip off with dettol or any other method that's going round? I have a habit of stripping various mini's if they don't come out exactly the way I like them.
