Looking for 28mm "Raygun Gothic" spaceships and other fun sci-fi stuff

Hey kids, anybody know of any companies that sell "Raygun Gothic*" themed rocket and spaceships? Here's an example: http://projects.cbe.ab.ca/AlexFerg/showcase07-08/rehakclassblog1/RetroRocket.gif

Also, any companies that sell other sorts of 28mm themed stuff would be grand. Things like people clad in latex space suits, big boxy robots, cheesy space monsters, massive computer devices etc.

I already have Dee Dee, Astro Girl from Reaper Miniatures, this mini got me started on this road:

* To quote TV Tropes: "Raygun Gothic is an ubiquitous aesthetic of early- and mid-20th century Science Fiction, roughly from Metropolis to Star Trek: The Original Series. Raygun Gothic architecture is modeled after Art Deco, Streamline Moderne, and/or Populuxe (aka Googie). Everything is slick and streamlined, with geometric shapes and clean parallel lines constructed of shiny metal and glass, lit prominently by neon. Sweeping curves, parabolas, and acute angles are used to suggest movement — movement into The Future.

And of course, futuristic fancy-pants technology of the future is ubiquitous. Ray Guns, jet packs, flying cars, Video Phones, Space Clothes, atomic-powered everything, cigar-shaped Retro Rockets and other Shiny Looking Spaceships, and "electronic brains" capable of calculating complex equations in mere minutes, all decorated with little blinking lights that don't really serve any purpose (but they sure look futuristic!).

Not to be confused with Warhammer 40,000, which is just Gothic with rayguns."

Oh yes I do....

First up we have this little number from Blue Moon.

They have a game out there along the Chaos in.. lines, Chaos on Khronos, they have a line of 28 mm Sci fi aliens and spacemen. Only ones I've seen in the flesh were the spacemen. They had plastic fishbowls on thier heads, and they were painted up like Space 1999 guys. Good looking figures.

http://www.bluemoonmanufacturing.com/index.php?cat_id=24

Second is the Spacemen "GAFDOZ" line from Killer B games. They are the same ones that have the "Geezers, Shut It!" Line. Goofy looking Buck Rodgers stuff, but they look to fit in line with what your looking for.

http://killerbgames.com/index.php?cPath=2&osCsid=fd9df880425e60364c2eec6bcdc3ace5

Third is the Retro Raygun Line from Hydra miniatures. The Robot armies are the dogs bollux!!! ( er... wrong game... They will be mine!!!! Great for those evil genius's and space emperors, because you can never have too many robot minions....

http://www.hydraminiatures.com/index.shtml

Fourth is the Khurasan Miniatures Dinosaur looking guys the Garn. Theres a leather wench with them, for the added bonus.... Because you can never have too many wenches.

http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/28mmscifi.html

A fifth one comes from the Super figs line, they grouped them all together as the "Alien Host"

http://www.oldgloryminiatures.com/products.asp?cat=335

And finally, theres the "Savage Worlds" line form Rat Trap miniatures. The link below is to the Rat trap site, but I've seen these guys around at FRP.

http://rattrapproductions.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=4_6

Theres a load of them out there, look under "Pulp sci fi" for the search form, and hold on for the ride.

A side order of thighs comes with the Pulp line from "Pulp Miniatures." What are the nazi radar men on the moon without a couple of Nazis?

http://www.pulpfigures.com/main.php?custID=651911661541306698237

As for the scenery, I refer you to the master himself... sites been changed around, but it is still there.

http://www.matakishi.com/

Hope that helps...

Re:Looking for 28mm "Raygun Gothic" spaceships and other fun sci-fi stuff

I would look more for toys than miniatures for the spaceships.

There are nots of aliens and space crews here, why not convert up some spacexhips yourself.

For flying saucers use a plastic breakfast bowl upside down on top of an upside down cheap plastic plate. With a little conversion work, papier mache, filing any serial markings and a silver spray paintjob and an underside you can have a classic flying saucer reminiscent of The Day the Earth Stood Still.

For a standard 50's rocket, see Tintin variant below there are many options.

Use a lawn dart for a 'single alien' capsule.

You know having just one alien coming all this way in such a small capsule just speaks of cold brute efficiency of course. Clearly they are up to no good.

For larger ovoid rocket ships tjhere are plenty to use, from toys to broken lava lamp casings. Here is an interesting toy.

Allowing for the featureless curves of a 50's rocketship a toy like the one above will convert up very nicely. Cut off the carrying handle, remove the bed, you could keep the bottom compartment and with a bit of work even the buggy. Within the bed the upper compartment can be scaled as something 50's alien. I dont know this toy or its scale, it was just something I found. Basically do some research, you got thwe miniatures sourced, frankly I would have through that the hard bit.

Oh on the miniatures side GZG do some nice 50's aliens. This site has a picture of them

Classic pulp/ 50's/'Mars Attacks' aliens

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Amendment from GZG catalogue

BUG-EYED MARTIANS (BEMs):
Little guys with huge brains and bulging eyes, in spacesuits with hairdryer rayguns -
very ‘50s B-movie style!! £1.00 each.
BEM-1 Martian standing with raygun
BEM-2 Martian firing raygun
BEM-3A Martian Officer in cloak, with sword
BEM-3B Martian Officer in cloak, with raygun
BEM-4 Martian with heavy ray rifle
BEM-5 Martian Emperor in cape
BEM-6 Martian running with raygun
BEM-7 Martian Psi-Priest
SPECIAL BEM PACK: 8 assorted BEMs for just £7.00!
BEM-SS1 BEM SCOUT SAUCER (resin kit with metal landing gear) - £10.00
