i have variants of the list with switching out the plauges with regular marines, and switching chosen for havocs, though as of now i dont know what to do, (dont suggest oblits or termis i cant afford them for awhile)

LandRaiders may be a liability in a field where your opponents are throwing around tons of melta; but loading a land raider with Berserkers and driving it directly into your opponent's face is an awesome feeling. I love land raiders, as CSM, even if they don't have power of the machine spirit like the standard SM ones have. They're nice big obstacles, they have serious firepower, and they deliver assaults.

Plague marines with melta, in rhinos is good.

You could benefit from more heavy weapons fire... obviously, as you've already mentioned, oblits would be great, but failing that... Havocs might be a good idea for you. LasCannons solve problems.

I love lascannons and I love CC, so naturally, I love Landraiders, Demon Princes, and Berserkers. Personally, I run 19 berserkers and two land raiders in my 2000 point CSM roster. I use a DP with lash, and my other two troop choices are 8 noise marines and 7 thousand sons, both in rhinos.
Of course, I also run 3 oblits, because they're the greatest thing ever.

Sometimes I use Havocs, sometimes I use a brutal HQ, like Abaddon or a Demon sword wielding champion on a palanquin of nurgle... I love that guy... and I tend to fine against all comers. The thing I like about chaos is that the units reliably do what they're supposed to do. The Noise Marines shoot, the thousand sons endure, the berserkers eat peoples faces, and the obliterators do everything else.

Throw in a few Meltabombs, summon a greater demon, and don't be afraid to sacrifice troops for position. CSM is great at enduring, even without plague marines, because, hell, it's fearless.
